My son is making himself a collection of old rock and roll cd's. He enjoys shopping on Ebay. I have taught him how to look up the artists he is interested in. He does know that we must agree on his purchases.
This 'album' is a tremendous grouping of songs written by the man who has poetry in his soul. In '85, it was the latest example of Mark Knopfler's ability to tell a story or relate a life with words that surely come from a gifted mind. Musically, the 'album' is what you'd expect from this guitar virtuoso and his gathering of splendid musicians. They work together to produce melodies and heart-moving sounds that convey perfectly the purpose of each song. I L-O-V-E "Brothers In Arms." Mark Knopfler: there's not enough good to say about your work.
The one wors to describe this cd is strong. The songs are powerful--in instruments and lyrics, range and performance. It's not money for nothing --it's money for talent with Mark Knopfler and these guys. You'll recognize the hits in this and appreciate the lesser know songs like Down To The Waterline. They rock.
