Have bought it in rock section in store because it caught my attention. Have no regrets because now it is one of my favorites. Great music, great album, great band. If you like rock do not miss this one.

Excellent sophore showing from Dylan and Co.
Review created: 07/03/08

This record is an excellent one, showcasing Jakob Dylan and Co. at their very best. The Wallflowers have yet to top this, their second release, to date. This is not a slight against them, however, but rather a testament to just how solid this album is. After all, it's hard to beat gems like "Three Marlenas," "6th Avenue Heartache" and the massive hit "One Headlight."

If you're looking to keep your Wallflowers purchases down to one record, this is the one to get. You'll spin it time and time again without disappointment.

Far from his father's music but very likable. One Head Light shines above the rest. Heard it on the radio and had to have it. In time I will listen to the complete cd. Thanks

  One Headlight

By far the Wallflowers best album. When I first heard One Headlight on the radio years ago I had to buy the album. Unfortunately, it has been played so much on the top 40 stations that it has been completely worn out. Anyway, I'll rate it on my first impression. 4 Stars.

Music just isn't what it used to be. Not even 10 years ago when this cd was first released. There is a smooth sound from the wallflowers and noticable musical talent. This is a very young classic must have CD in your collection

One of the best albums for folk rock - Jakob Dylan's best album by far. The first 5 songs are great.

It is a well rounded cd. It has some quicker tempo songs and some touching songs. I listen to it quite a bit when I go on road trips. It's not a cd that your only gonna listen to once and throw back in the case and lose somwhere.

  A Dylan Legacy
Review created: 11/30/01
by: lambchops-- a member of Epinions and Lead in Music

Pros:
Great lyrics, music, guests

Cons:
?

If genetics mean anything Jakob Dylan is a genius. The Wallflowers were formed in the late 1980 s almost immediately, the band was signed to Virgin. Their self-titled folk rock debut hit stores in 1992 to little fanfare. Despite promising musicianship and lyrics, the band was soon dropped from Virgin. After that punch, only two band members remained. Jakob Dylan on lead vocals and guitar and Rami Jaffee (piano, organ). Three new members were brought on to round out the quintet. Michael Ward (guitar), Greg Richling (bass), Mario Calire (drums) joined with the remaining two members to record a..

  God don't make lonely Dylans.
Review created: 11/08/03
by: Stairway2Drew-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Music

Pros:
Jakob's songwriting; skilled band

Cons:
it's not all together yet; some songs sound forced.

On their debut album, The Wallflowers adopted a great sound. Unfortunately, they mired it down with half-baked songs and dull performances. It bore the stigma that frontman Jakob Dylan would spend the rest of his career trying to distance himself from: what I like to call YOUR DADDY'S BOB DYLAN syndrome. That early self-titled album came in 1992, and if anyone even took notice of them then, chances are they figured they never would again. But hey, four years does funny things to people. For Jakob and Co., it matured them. In 1996 they dropped Bringing Down the Horse, and they sounded like a...

Pros:
I really enjoy the first four songs---

Cons:
---As far as I know the last seven don't exist.

I ve tried and I ve tried, but I can t get past the fourth song on this album. I enjoy Bringing Down the Horse for the first four songs- then I black out and wake up somewhere else. Or something like that. Basically, it uses up all of its hooks on the first four tracks and then stuffs the lesser, bulkier tracks on the end hoping nobody notices. I mean, I seem to manage the first twenty minutes of it fine; but then I enter some twilight zone or the episode of the X-files where the guy kept looking at his watch but time stood still. It s bizarre. It s a great album to fall asleep to, because...

  Bringing Up The Pop/Folk
Review created: 03/22/01
by: ericyoung -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Very long album with a variety of different songs. Great lyrics, bass, guitar, and vocals.

Cons:
Many will try compare him to his father.

Many people know The Wallflowers as simply the band that has Bob Dylan s son in it. Although this is true, and although you can draw many similarities between the two, The Wallflowers are a group that deserve more credit then simply being The Band With The Son Of Bob Dylan . The Band Jakob Dylan Jakob certainly looks like his father, but I m sure he hates people who compare him to his father all the time (I know I would hate to hear it all the time). He plays the guitar, and is the lead singer. Michael Ward Michael is the lead guitarist in the band, and is also the back up vocalist. His voice.

The Wallflowers Leave A Little Too Much to Be Desired
Review created: 08/15/00
by: MattA75 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
some great songs, good lyrics, a good rock and roll record

Cons:
there's just something missing, I can't put my finger on it, it's almost inaudible

One has to feel bad for Jakob Dylan, lead singer of The Wallflowers, who rocketed to success with this disc thanks to the incessant and often times annoying overplay of certain songs on this, their sophomore effort, Bringing Down the Horse. No matter what Dylan does, he will be unfairly and unjustly compared to his father, who needs no introduction. This album is pure rock and roll, which is something you don't see a lot of these days, and perhaps that is at least something of an explanation as to it's huge success. I'm not saying this is a bad album, because it's not in the least a bad album.
