i grew up in the seventies when music had a meaning. it touched somebodies life in some kind of way with what was sung. this is the only way to relive those times.
Al Jarreau belts it out on this CD. From the ballads of "Our Love" to "We're In This Love Together" to the jazz of "Roof Garden" this CD has it all. One of the best from this artist.

Pros: A superb showcase of Al Jarreau s unique vocal versatility
Cons: Some of the lyrics get chewed up as he speeds through them.
Breakin' Away SUE'S PRE-RAMBLE Breakin' Away was the first Al Jarreau album I ever heard and I still remember that it was my friend Colleen who played it for me the first time. We still have this album on vinyl. It was recorded in the Miami Vice era of the 80 s and the album cover has Al wearing a pink polo shirt with a sort of pinkish jacket. It s probably one of those decisions that he shakes his head over now, but at the time it was hot. My husband and I were poor-just-out-of-college, and the budget was excruciatingly tight, but we scraped together the money to go with our friend Colleen.
