Again, I have no one favorite song on this CD, because how can you pick out just one??? I have no idea how many times I have listened to this CD, but I'm surprised that it still plays. Sometimes it and my other Sting CDs are in my player for months on end and I never get tired of hearing the songs.

This man can write lyrics and music like a dream. I was fortunate enough to see him in concert (with Annie Lennox, no less) in Tampa 2 years ago and it was the best concert I have ever experienced. My night at this concert has gone down as being one of the highlights of my life to date...

The title song, though, so cleary describes a hopeless love addict. I laugh when I hear this song because it describes myself at many times in my life!

This disc is a must own for Gordon Matthew Sumner fans (and if you didn't already know that that's Sting real name, what kind of fan are ya?)
Just makes me feel good when I listen to Sting. Some really good material on this album.

  Sting CD
Review created: 09/08/07

I purchased a second copy of the the Sting CD "Brand New Day" I love this cd. When I looked for my original and only copy at home, I was horrified to realize that it was misplaced. I had the cd jacket, but no cd inside. So what did I do, I went to Ebay of course. Found a new, never been opened copy of "Brand New Day". It was very reasonably priced, as was the shipping also. The cd was shipped promptly and now I am a "happy camper" again. Now, if I could only find my first copy of Brand New Day.

By far, my favorite Sting Album!
Review created: 01/25/07

I was always a Country fan until I heard "Desert Rose" from this album when it first came out and they played it on the radio often. I immediatly went out and bought this album and have been a huge fan of Sting ever since. I went to his last concert in Las Vegas, at the end of his "All This Time" Tour and must say that I will NEVER forget it! Sting was amazing in concert, and will forever be one of my favorite memories.
Sting's ability to write songs is a gift, and every album he has is proof.

gr8t cd but it's short of 5 stars cause he's had better
Review created: 08/10/06

Really good album but i must say that ten summner's tales was a pretty complete sting album. not to say this one comes much short of it but the rapper on here really threw me other than that and the slight lack of energy expected from a typical sting release it was very good.

Brand New Day: Brand new Sting
Review created: 02/24/02
by: telynor -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Variety, maturity, even an old broad like me enjoys this one.

Cons:
There's a couple of flops on this one, but the good outweighs the bad.

After a long hiatus, Sting amazed everyone with this one. Blending musical styles and musicians from around the world, we got a revitalized Sting. We still have most of the songs centering around every form of love that you can think of, but this is the most mature work that I've heard. There's a certain level of contentment here, that encourages repeat listening, and this CD almost never leaves my player - at least not for very long. This picked up a Grammy as the Album of the Year pick, and was a grand choice to close out the century with. If you don't have it yet, and you're already a fan..

Song List A Thousand Years Desert Rose Big Lie, Small World After The Rain Has Fallen Perfect Love...Gone Wrong Tomorrow We'll See Prelude To The End Of The Game Fill Her Up Ghost Story Brand New Day Brand New Day (all Sting quotes throughout this review can be found at sting.com) "I didn't set out to write lyrics just above love, yet almost all the songs have the theme of broken lives that can be mended by love. My challenge was to write a happy love song without being banal or smug. For example, 'Brand New Day', the last song, begins with a jaundiced view and then moves toward acceptance,...

  Sting's Musical Melting Pot
Review created: 06/13/02
by: speeddemon531-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Music

Pros:
Successful fusion of wildly different types of music, and great lyrics.

Cons:
A bit short (9 songs), "Ghost Story"

Sting almost totally lost me with the album before this, "Mercury Falling". I never really paid much attention to people who said he was a pretentious jerk until I heard him singing in French on that album. I thought he was a bit too high-falutin' for his own good. Fortunately for us, Sting returns with a great album with "Brand New Day", which retains the signature Sting sound while adding a few new wrinkles. The song that opens the album, "A Thousand Years", is a beautiful song about undying devotion. The haunting chorus of "I still love you...I still want you..." will stick itself in your..

  Foxy_shy's one-man Sting and the Police W/O: Part I - It's a brand new day
Review created: 01/11/04

Pros:
Brand New Day officially ranks as my second favorite Sting album, after the Soul Cages

Cons:
It s flawless...

There are albums that you know you can always come back to. Brand New Day is one for me. It is amazing that Sting would deliver such masterpiece at the time most people had written him off as an 80s/early 90s pop icon whose stardom days were counted. Maybe they changed their minds when in 1999 most TV stations of the world closed their news briefly showing Sting perform his new songs with the Pyramids behind him, like some ancient prince, risen to rule the world of pop again. Mesopotamic disco of Desert Rose had already firmly stuck in all rotations by the same time. Sting had returned, and...

Cons:

General Sting Commentary -------------------------------------- Sting has been a big name since his punk/rock days with the Police. He moved me then and now, some 15 years later, he moves me still (You Still Move Me). As my tastes in music have matured, so too have Sting's. Now, first let's give the guy credit for being a talented performer (aside from his recent acting appearance on Ally McBeal). He's a man that can jam with the best jazz musicians in the world. Anyone who caught him in his 'Bring on the Night' tour back in the late 80's is aware of that. However, at that point he was...
