Blow (2001, DVD)

George Jung (Johnny Depp) lives on a California Beach selling drugs. When his drug dealing booms he begins cross country shipping of them. After meeting with drug cartel Pablo Escobar in Columbia, in order to get the high volume of drugs his consumers demand, Jung is cocaine dealer number one is the US. Depp's characterization of Jung is one of his better ones because he has to portray such a complexity of Jung's emotions.

This film is based on reality and a documentary about Jung. Perhaps this sort of reality is not suitable for teens or children to watch at all. Or at the very least, without interactive parental supervision and dialogue. Blow's a good show because of the talented cast: especially Depp. But the story is not as engaging as I had hoped it might be. Thus, I found it rather dull, except for the character studies. I'd give the story a yawn.

I absolutely love Johnny Depp and think he's a very talented actor. I love mostly all the movies he's done and this one was very good. He can play any character and go in depth with the role they portray. This movie tells you the true life story of a dealer and the consequences he has deal with being in that line of work. Very moving story. I have been very satisfied with all my purchases with Ebay, I would definitely recommend everyone using Ebay if they are making mutiple purchases. Thank you.

In this bio-pic, George Jung is a guy who starts out by selling pot in the California area. After a while though, he progresses to selling cocaine in the late 70's and early 80's with the infamous Pablo Ecobar, and becomes a multi-millionaire (Jung, played by Jonny Depp very well, explains that if you bought cocaine in that time period in America, there would be a 85 percent chance it was from him). But then we see how things change with time, especially with Jung, which makes this movie even more fascinating and excellent.

While Blow is stylish, smart and hard edged with good stuff, the film also has compassion and feeling, in-particular in the third act which gives this movie a clever turn. Also with brilliant acting from the cast (the ensemble includes Depp, Paul Ruebens, Penelope Cruz and in a twist of a role from GoodFellas, Ray Liotta as Jung's dad) and a well told story, this is one of the best bio-pics and drug movies of the 00's

everyone has seen the movie blow i hope, if not check it out......i watched this movie as a teenager, my husband had never seen it so i bought it at a steal her on ebay, he watched it, then he watched it again an again... we just love it.......wished there was a part 2.

This is a great movie based on a true story of an american drug smuggler who dealt directly with Pablo Escobar. Some great acting in this film that shows the highs and lows of the drug dealers life!!

johnny depp is excellent in this movie.. the story was well written and captured the good and bad of "boston george" i just loved it. and not to mention i love johnny!!! -clary

If you are oing to watch a drug movie, this is a must see. A fascinating screenplay by McKenna and a great book by Bruce Porter. This movie shows how many drug dealers start off small dealing marijuana, and then move on to harder stuff like cocaine. This means more money, but also means more complications and problems. This movie portrays the life of a drug dealer, starting from the bottom and making it to the top, and then hitting the bottom again. It also shows that people who start dealing drugs have a hard time quitting dealing and consumption. All good things come to an end.

This movie includes a fascinating performance by a great actor, "Johnny Depp", who plays George Jung. He plays with his wife Mirtha Jung, who is Penelope Cruz. The movie also has a great performance for Ray Liotta as George Jung's brother. This is a true story about George Jung, the man who established the American cocaine market in the 1970's.
