Black Hawk Down (2002, DVD)

Great action. Movie plot took the viewer from event to event without confusion. Based on real life, it didnt take much freedom with the real events. dead on accurate. Really enjoyed the film. Makes one really apprecieate our brave men and women of the armed services.

Great action/war movie. An awesome yet true depiction of an actual battle between a handful of U.S. Marines in Mogadishu with thousands of armed Somalian militiamen. Intense battle scene imagery and fierce action with a lot of heart as well. An A+ movie. Definitely 5 star quality production. A must have for any fan of action, suspense, or war movies. A great value for the price. I highly recommend this timeless classic to all who enjoy action movies.

I Have watched this movie numerous times, and I have never been disappointed. This is due to the fact that it is based on a true story, as well as great film making and an amazing soundtrack. If you like Drama/Action films, then this is the film that you should watch. You will not be disappointed!

This is one of the all time greatest movies ever made. A must have movie for anyone in the military. My husband said they even watch it at basic training, so I foudn a great deal and bought him a copy for when he comes home.

All time classic movie, that you can't find in stores. I think they must have removed it because of the invasion of Iraq. Our video stores don't carry it and its never on premium channels.

On October 3, 1993, Army Rangers and members of the elite Delta Force participated in a covert operation in Mogadishu, Somalia that went horribly wrong. Sent to abduct two lieutenants of a vicious Somali warlord, the soldiers found themselves surrounded by hostile militia. Two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down and many men lost their lives. Filmmaker Ridley Scott (GLADIATOR) and screenwriter Ken Nolan have done an amazing job of bringing the dramatic story to the screen. Like Mark Bowden's book, the film does not thoroughly examine the context of the conflict, but gives a detailed and intense blow-by-blow account of the fighting. The outstanding ensemble cast includes Josh Hartnett as a competent but nervous Ranger sergeant leading his first mission, Ewan McGregor as a "desk jockey" who excels when sent into combat, Eric Bana as a cocky and enigmatic Delta, and Ron Eldard as a downed Black Hawk pilot. The violence of the film is brutal and nearly constant. Scott unflinchingly captures the chaos and mayhem of battle with tremendous visual finesse. If your a fan of RAW military conflict with extreme tension this is up your alley. If blood and guts are not your thing, you may want to pass on this film.

I bought this movie as a replacement for the one I lost in my house fire. My son Tim was a Delta Force soldier, whoes character is in this movie. As a member of Delta Force, his real name could not be revealed, but he lived this nightmare, holding the hands of the dying, and picking up pieces of his comrads. He knew the people in the downed Black Hawkes very well, and he was one of the soldiers who ran that last mile when there was no room for them to ride out. I watch this movie periodically to remind me of how very lucky I am to still have my son alive, and how close he came to death that day.

simple one of THE best "war" movies ever!! its based on a true event and it's almost 100% fighting!!! If u like war movies, this is the one u have to buy! I can watch this bad boy over and over......

This movie is base on actual events of America 1993 attemp to capture Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid during the battle of Mogadishu.

It was an excellent movie, plenty of action, great plot and easy to follow. The acting was believable and the special effects were awesome. The scenery was realistic as if you were seeing real places instead of a movie set.

I would recommend this to any person who likes movies about war, with alot of action and a great story line.

Chilling and true. Top ensemble cast, vivid setting, chilling miscalculations. It really makes us stay at homes develop an appreciation for those who walk in harm's way.

This was a very informative movie about a factual happening involving American military forces doing the job our government ordered them to do and the price they paid defending our way of life here in the United States.Though very grafic, the movie lets you know just what our armed forces personell are made to endure daily just to do their job.The part I hate is the fact that so many of our young people are maimed and killed needlessly.I think that more movies should be done like this so that the American public is aware of just what is going on and the things that our government covers up and keeps from its citizens.I am an an American and very proud of it.I believe that when we Americans are decieved and misled by our own elected government officials and anyone dies for no good reason because of or as a result of these activities, then those responsible should not be able to just cover it up and in addition they should be accountable.From the President on down the line all Americans have the right to know just what the government is up to and those in power need to be held accountable for their activities.This movie, though very sad, was well done and very informative and accuratly done.

I loved how the movie came in a very timely manner and was in really good condition in its package. I have watched the movie and and as you had stated the movie was not messed up. Very powerful story. It's amazing how things can go so wrong, so quickly and how things can compound and spiral out of control. All from one little event. We really felt like we were in the movie. Excellent, 5 stars!

I bought this copy for my husband for his birthday as a replacement. He watched his first copy of Black Hawk Down so much it wore out!! This is an excellent war movie and it's especially touching because it's based on real events. It's amazing what our soldiers do to protect us and our country- this will really make you appreciate their sacrifice. I definitely recommend reading the book too, it will just add to your experience with this movie.

One of the best war movies ever. You gotta watch it at least 5 times to follow exactly what is going on at any given moment. If you like Private Ryan, you'll love Black Hawk Down.

This one of my favorite movies, it definately the grammys it won. Although this movie is classified as a action I really think that it should also think that it should be classified as a drama. The plot in this movie based off the bestselling book does a great job of making you think about what happened and why. This is a great movie and I would recomend it to everyone.

great movie, i have many friends who serve in military and this is one of the most accurate movies for this period of time when many movies glorify the good and the bad of military movies.
