I have seen many movies that Nicole Kidman has been in. There are some that I haven t seen, but I do like her. I have thought that she was talented for a long time now. I m glad to see that she is finally getting recognition. The last few years haven t been the best for her in her personal life, but she has done very well professionally, appearing in several successful movies. Birthday Girl was a smaller movie that she was in that didn t do as well at the box office. I decided to see it mainly because of Nicole Kidman being in it. The movie was a bit different, but I enjoyed it. PLOT John was.

I can usually sit through a film if there's the merest thread of a plot to hang onto. Unfortunately, not even Nicole Kidman can save this tawdry hash of a film involving a Russian e-mail-order bride, a banker and two thugs. That's pretty much the character list in this one, and besides talking head shots, we get some kink and bashing about. This, mi tovarischi, does not a film make. Lonely, isolated John Buckingham (Ben Chaplin) spends his days at work or running. We open the film with his fumbling attempts to make an intro for a matchmaking service in Russia.
