Tom Hanks is one of the best actors ever. I just love the scene at the buffet during the party. Every time I eat Chineese and see the baby corn on the cobb I think of this movie.

Big - A great story about a boy who wants to be big and makes a wish at a carnival. It comes true and he eventually finds himself successful at job and with a woman. If by some chance you haven't seen this movie, do yourself a favor and do so.

I'm impressed with how wonderful it stayed in the cover slip, that worked nicely. Sure there wasn't the hardcopy cover case, but still, its the dvd that counts, right? Good luck on more sales & thanks. This guy is good for sales.

Classic "chop sticks" scene, a must see.

"Big" is a light hearted comedy. The complicated adult world is deflated when the innocent simple faith of a child brightens the world around him. Hilarious situations kept me glued to this movie. Very good cast and performances.

Tom Hanks at His Very Best!
Review created: 10/08/06

Funny is an understatement. Hanks will have you rolling on the floor. I love to watch this movie with my sons. It makes me long for my own childhood. The soundtrack is very good also.

Comedy/Fantasy/Romance... the whole family can enjoy!

This is a fun classic comedy (1988) with a really sweet love story wrapped into it. A little boy, Josh, wishes he were BIG (after seeing the girl he likes with a much bigger and older boy standing in line at a carnival ride) after putting a coin into a fortune telling machine. A card is then dispensed from the machine saying his WISH had been GRANTED! It is eerie because then he notices the machine wasn't even plugged in at the time!

After he wakes up the next morning, his body IS bigger- that of an adult man! Tom Hanks plays the part of the adult Josh, of course in his "mind" he is still a little boy! The resulting movie is hilarious but also has tender moments as he starts to fall in love with a lady co-worker, and she, with him. It is a very enjoyable film and it is PG so it is safe to watch with the kids.

A boy asks a mechanical swami at a fair to grant his wish to be grown up -- oops! Luckily his best friend recognizes him and helps him get a job at a toy factory where his fresh, uncomplicated innocence wins the president's respect, his colleagues' envy -- and a beautiful woman's love. Academy Award Nominations: Best Actor--Tom Hanks, Best (Original) Screenplay.

This is another classic 80's movie. I bought it for my husband, but my 10 year old daughter had never watched the movie. She loved it. It is still a funny movie for both children and adults.

OK. It's Hanks - 'nuf said? This 1 appeals to all ages!

It's just human nature. The young dream of life as an adult; the grown yearn for the days of their youth. Hanks takes us all there, perfectly.

Great morals, too - don't wish away your youth AND don't rush your kids (they grow up fast enough)!

A must-see :-)

Tom Hanks has a big secret...
Review created: 03/03/03

Pros:
Tom Hanks turns in a flawless performance as a 12-year-old gone "big".

Cons:
Don't watch it at a low point in your life; it'll never be the same.

Joshua Baskin couldn't be more frustrated. Take out the garbage, take out the garbage, he mocks his parents as he carries the burly bags out to the cans at the end of the driveway. Like any typical 12 year old, Josh is also getting to that age where he likes girls, but there's little luck waiting for him in that department, either. He's got a crush on a girl named Cynthia, but she's just way too popular (and a bit old too, I would say!) It's not the typical nerd's life, though. Josh has a friend he can always depend on in Billy Kopecki. One night, he is at a carnival with his parents and who..

"Big" and bigger thanks to the Extended Edition DVD.
Review created: 05/22/07
by: deadmilkboy -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
A contemporary comedy classic makes it at last to special edition DVD.

Cons:
The 130-minute extended cut is a little too much of a good thing.

In 1984, the idea came to screenwriter Gary Ross to make a body-switching comedy, and he settled on the conceit of a boy who becomes a full-grown man overnight. His neighbor happened to be Anne Spielberg, Steve's sister, and the two writers managed to immediately brainstorm ideas and come up with a fresh script. After securing a deal with producer James L. Brooks, a second draft of the film was developed in a year. But by the time sitcom star-turned-director Penny Marshall and actor Tom Hanks (who perhaps would've avoided the project like he did before were Robert De Niro not temporarily...

A Contemporary Fairy Tale For Adults and Families

Pros:
Sweet film, well done story

Cons:
None

There's one thing I find absolutely terrifying about Hollywood, is that they remake movies. Bad movies to be remade, are understandable because the filmmakers can improve on a concept not executed thoughtfully. But a good movie to be remade can be questionable. Of course not all remakes are bad and some don't need remaking at all. A film should simply stand on it's own two feet without any touches. Big is one of those films that hopefully, won't get remade but given how the film industry remakes everything including the upcoming Bad News Bears (which in my opinion, looks surprisingly...

  Time to get a laugh
Review created: 04/27/00
by: uffda6 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
very funny

Cons:
none

I have this movie on video, and I have seen it many times. The first time I watched this I was at a friends house, and laughed through almost the whole movie. When I need to laugh I pull out this movie, and just shut out the world, and reality, and laugh. Without revealing to much for those who may not have seen this, I think the idea of how children may perceive our adult world is comical. Tom Hanks is the perfect actor for this movie. I think it is very funny when we see how a 13 year old would view a business Christmas party. The idea that what we may consider a delicacy, a child would...

  Big Fun

by: chopper123 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Tom Hanks is in it

Cons:
??

I think this is a really good movie. I've seen it so many times and still like it. This movie is about a 13-year-old boy named Josh who makes a wish on a wishing booth game at a carnival. He later that night goes to sleep and wakes up the following morning finding his wish came true. He was "big". Josh had a body of a 35-year-old man's, but with a mind and spirit of a 13-year-old's. Scared and confused, he runs out of the house and goes to find his best friend Billy at school. Of course, Josh's mom screams and yells when confronted by her grown up son Josh, now being played by Tom Hanks. Josh.
