Ben-Hur (2005, DVD)

I purchased this deluxe DVD edition of Ben-Hur for my 20-year-old son. He is a huge fan of the director (Wyler) and thinks that Ben-Hur is everything an Epic should be and more. My son is determined to see all "classic" and "top rated" movies. Mostly we borrow them from our public library and then he buys them or puts them on his Christmas or Birthday "wish list". Some "classic" movies are a let down but when we saw Ben-Hur several months ago, it did not disappoint us. I wanted to give each of my kids a "thank you gift" for some work that they did and I just knew my son would enjoy this deluxe edition. He was speechless and I often hear him watching favorite scenes (there are many) and Charleton Heston is one of his favorite actors, too. The sell I bought this from was top-notch and I wouldn't hesitate to bid on his items in the future. In case you are wondering what the DVD was that I gave to my 17-year-old daughter, it was My So Called Life deluxe edition DVD.

Ben-Hur has always been a favorite film of mine, showing the golden years of the Hollywood scene, when hundreds, and hundreds of extras both in front of the camera and behind as well, in costume design, set design, etc.

In a world where the industry is slowly fading out large scale casts, for one big name and several CG populations, it's refreshing to see a classic that relies on just people, and a great story.

This box set has more things to go behind the Academy Award winning film, with extras both for the enthusiast, and lovers of the classics. I would recomend this set to anyone.

WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT BEN HUR,BESIDES GREAT!!!!! I SAW THIS AS A KID I LOVED IT THEN ALSO. IT SHOWS OUR YOUNG PEOPLE WHAT A REAL MOVIE REALLY IS.NOT JUST GOOD BUT A WORK OF ART!!!!!

The item was for me. I ordered it for my Aunt who is very much into biblical epics. However, I do love the fact that I recieved this item within a week of ordering it. I have not heard anything from my aunt so I assume she likes it. It was a 4 disc set brand new and I was really impressed by that.

Delivered promptly, in good condition and as advertised. I will buy again from this vendor. I think that my comments as written say it all !

Everthing I always loved about this movie was made even better in this rendition. It was especially nice to have both versions in one set.

I loved the film. This DVD collection came with all the versions made for Ben Hur. I recomend it to everyone.
