Beggars Banquet is unquestionably one of the finest albums ever released by the bad boys of rock'n'roll and a must have for all true Stones fans. Recorded in 1968 Asside from classics like Jumpin' Jack Flash and Sympathy For The Devil we're treated to the hard driving Street Fighting Man as well as some downright bluesy cuts like Parachute woman, Stray Cat Blues, Factory Girl, Prodigal son and particularly their heartfelt take on Robert Johnson's Love In Vain. The beautiful No Expectations is a somewhat overlooked number that surely deserves a listen. The Set is rounded out with the tracks Salt Of The Earth and the infectious, countrified approach on Dear Doctor. The arrangements are stripped down and in your face leaning on the bands R&B roots more than the previous album, 1967's Their Satanic Majesties Request with it's polished Psychodelic sound. This release is in SACD form and the sound is incredible. I must confess I hadn't given this album much thought in years but it now comes acrioss like a breath of fresh air. If you love the Rolling stones, or even blues or rock'n'roll in general you won't be disappointed with this find.
I had this on album when i was younger. It sounds amazing! I love that it shows the name of the song playing on the screen. Never seen that before on a cd. Great purchase!
