A true classic & beloved film!!
Excellent story, characters & music.
The only animated film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Like many other Disney films, it was such a shame the category of Best Animated Film was not done for this year.
Never get tired of watching the film.
I do enjoy the DVD version of the film. I always enjoy making of & behind the scenes segments.

An excellent movie. It is my favorite Walt Disney movie of all times. It has a great message about loving people for who they are on the inside & not by their appearance. It's sweet, funny, dramatic, sad & romantic all in one. A classic love story.

I have really been wanting this DVD. I saw it & made a bid. The DVD was in good shape and my daughters love it.

Had this on VHS but not on DVD. Missed out on the opportunity to buy it on DVD so came here looking for it. I've watched ti several times since buying it and it's still great fun.

I love this movie...its too beautiful for words...between the beautiful artistic simplicity and the heart warming music this movie is amazing especialy for those of you who havent seen it....definately give it a try...

Disney's animated version of the classic tale, "Beauty and the Beast," is every bit as enchanting as the "tale as old as time" that it tells, making its way into our hearts as well as motion picture history. Being the first film nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as six nominations altogether, Disney proves that it has what it takes to make an animated feature enjoyable for adults and children. I remember watching the film as a small child, and now, as an adult, is hasn't lost its luster, and everything is just as I enjoyed it before.

Through brilliant animation and song, as well as some terrific voice talents, the story of unexpected love comes to new and exciting life. Small-town girl Belle is forced to head into the woods once her father turns up missing, bringing her to a gloomy, secluded castle where she finds him and his captor, a vicious-looking beast. Of course, the beginning of the movie explains the beast's origins: he was once a selfish prince who, after turning out an old beggar woman, was transformed, given an enchanted rose, and told "if he could learn to love another, and earn their love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time."

This begins their rocky-turned-romantic relationship, as they begin to warm to one another. Meanwhile, the town brute, Gaston, has plans of his own, involving some sinister maneuvers involving Belle's father in hopes that she will agree to marry him.

Many have hailed this as the best of Disney's films, and they wouldn't be wrong in saying so, either. It's easy to see why the movie has become such a success: there are elements at work in this film, just as in every other Disney film, only they seem to have taken on a small degree of maturity with this film's creation.

The animation is some of the best and most believable I've seen for an animated film in a long time. Most of the scenes involving solely characters is the same as most of Disney's works, but there are scenes of pure life-like reality that have a special flare to them. The ballroom scene is one such scene: the camera angles sweep across a room filled with high-arched glass windows and a chandelier which looks as real as the words you're reading on this page. Some nice effects go into the creation of the castle as well, especially in the end once everything returns to normal.

The is one of the most moving Disney soundtracks to come along since that of "Cinderella" and "Pinocchio." It is clear that composers were striving to capture the feeling and influence of their previous score for "The Little Mermaid," and they truly succeed in doing so. The songs are delightful and will have kids and adults alike smiling and singing along. The score is the perfect underlining for scenes of romance as well as tension and suspense. In case you were wondering, three of the originally written songs were nominated for Academy Awards; that should say something.

This is one of Disney's most ambitious and successful projects, ranking alongside such cinematic achievements as the successes of "Citizen Kane" and "Gone With The Wind." Winner of the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture, as well as its Oscar nominations, "Beauty and the Beast" is a hallmark of a time when movies were something that everyone, young and old alike, could enjoy on the same levels. This is the best picture of 1991.

This DVD was advertised as "new" The first copy I recieved would not play in my player. The first sign that it is not the orginal. Seller replaced at my expense in shipping. The movie is a good copy, but if you are looking for an orginal for your collection, This is not the one to buy. You get what you pay for. Seller was very cooperative and promt. Great communication. Again, I do not believe that these are orginal Disney movies, but good copies.

I decided to buy this item because of the price that it was being offered at. I was not at all satisfied with this product because I waited almost 3 weeks for delivery but when i received it and put it on for my 2 yr old daughter it was unwatchable. The DVD does not function properly. The movie skips and it is sometimes blurry. When i went online to try to reach the seller and inform him of this, i came to find out that he was no longer available.

A beautiful Disney story! My daughter absolutely adores Belle! This item went to the Disney vault way before she was born. I really wanted to purchase this DVD new but it is extremely difficult to find. Unless, you are willing to pay big bucks for it. After days of research and nights watching items (and losing them), I finally seemed to have found an authentic platinum edition which comes with 2 discs for a reasonable price. I could hardly wait to share the news with my daughter but I waited to receive the DVD in the mail. At first it looked perfect, it was new and sealed. However, when I opened it came only with one disc and the artwork seemed to have been made at one of those copy machines at the grocery store. My heart just sunk. I can't believe that being an e-bay store owner and selling DVDs and other children items on e-bay, I was fooled. So if you are looking to purchase this item or any other OOP (out of print) item, if the deal is too good to be truth it probably is. Make sure to contact the seller and check feedback (which I did, and it seems the other buyers didn't notice it was a fake). If the seller doesn't answer or can't guarantee the authenticity of the product, look elsewhere. Another safer option, it is to purchase used titles. Ask the history of the product, if it belonged to their children, or if it was purchased recently. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I love when my buyers ask questions because if they purchase a product from me, I want them to be 100% satisfied with their purchase. Unfortunately, counterfeiters are out there. So do your research, ask questions, be patient (you will find your item) and good luck!

the dvd was a counterfeit copy. it took over one month to arrive. i am very unhappy, and would actually like to have my money refunded.

I have been looking for an original copy of Beauty and the Beast for quite some time. A friend of mine suggested trying e-bay to find an authentic copy of the movie. I found what I thought was an original copy of the movie only to find out when I recieved it that it was a burnt copy of the movie. That in itself was dissapointing. The fact that it was not in its original box was also dissapointing along with the second disc with the bonus features on it were missing also. Also there are some glitches in the movies sound as well. While I will continue to look an e-bay and shop on e-bay I will be more wary of buying original movies. In a way I wish I would have checked out the person that I bought the movie from before completing the transaction. I would also suggest to all members that are selling movies let your cusotmers know if they are buying an original movie or if they are buying a copy of the original movie. All in all I will contine to tell my friends and family about e-bay and encourage them to try it out for themselves.

i disliked the fact that this item was a very bad copy of the original. It will not play unless you click the main menu button on the remote. the picture is also bad.

Great! Couldn't find anywhere else. For a disabled person who has been watching it for years and lost her DVD of the movie. So glad to have it back in her collection again.
