Being an avid James Patterson reader, you know, Im the kind that has his book release dates in my date book, so I can be the first at the local chapters to have it in my hand. Yes, Im such a die hard that I cant even stand to wait for the shipping so I could order it online.
With that being said, I wasn't as impressed with this book as I ususally am when I get a new book by him. I found it difficult to figure out from which charater was speaking throughout the book and it didnt flow as his traditional reads.
I am used to being at the edge of my seat when I open up a new read by Patterson, and unfortnately this was not my experience with particular book. When I finally got to the end of the book and twist, I was happy that I saw a glimmer of my favorite writer.
For the most part, I dont think this was one of his finer works, not as action packed, not a lot of characters that you can really get into. I choose to give this a book an average rating, as the book didnt make me love James Patterson's writing any less, but it didnt make me want to rush right out to buy more.
Many people were dissapointed in this book. It was my first James Patterson novel and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was edgy and unpredictable, a great book to just sit down and read in one sitting!
I understand where people are coming from when they complain about the writing style, as it can sometimes be confusing, especially if you're engrossed in the book and forget to check the chapter header.
I love the short chapters. It makes the book incredibly easy to read before bed (I just can't fall asleep in-midst chapter)
Patterson keeps you guessing from the beginning, and when you finally learn the truth...
People who give away the ending by complaining about it for whatever reason are doing a disservice to all people reading these reviews.
I personally LOVED the ending, it was great, even if there is a small problem with it.
Final Verdict:
4/5
Borrow or Buy?: Do people buy books anymore? Even if they do, I'd borrow this one first. The writing style might get on some peoples nerves, and it's really tough to recommend whether a book this worth buying.

Bought this for a gift for my grandma and it was in great condition. My grandma and I love this author, so we often swap books. This is a great inexpensive way for us to do this!!!
I just finished this book and have to say I was a little disappointed. I used to love James Patterson until he began co-authoring with Peter DeJonge. I suspect that he is no longer doing most of the writing but is actually just "overseeing" Mr. DeJonge's work. Beach Road was good but not his best novel. The end has a little "twist" that really "saved" the book for me. A light read - especially good for the beach or vacation.
Okay I love James Patterson... I got hooked with HONEYMOON my 'first' Patterson book to read...then I picked up Beach Road and ughhhh! Not good. I ended up getting rid of the book after reading 100 pages. I was totally lost,,,,, I had no idea what I just read. I didn't want to give up on Patterson though... he writes with other people you know. So I got the 1st to Die WOMEN's Murder Club and I haven't looked back. Please....If you read this book and you like it let me know!!!
Interesting mystery amoung the rich and famous. Down and out lawyer who has seen better days. A pro basketball career that went bust early because of injury. Knows a lot of very rich people but has little money of his own. Making just enough to keep him in booze and low class women. Still living his dream in pickup basketball games against much younger players on the way up. I think book becomes very disjointed at the end just like it is written by two people. Other James Patterson books written better but worth the read.
Everyone is raving about the "Twist" in this book which I found highly implausible. Think about how the main character is attacked in his own home! This is never explained and how convenient it was that the "suspect" just happened to pick him to be his lawyer. This book was an insult to intelligent, thinking people everywhere.
James Patterson is one of my favorite writers. I loved the way he tells the story and in short chapters. It makes it such a fast read and you dont want to put the book down.
I've read many of his books especially with Alex Cross character, Along Came a Spider, Big Bad Wolf, Three Blind Mice, Mary, Mary. His stories are always exciting, easy to read, and challenge you to try to figure out what and who is the real villain.
I decided to buy it because of the price on ebay! Big Savings and excellent book.
I bought this book because I have always been a fan of Patterson, and like always, I enjoyed his writing and his characters. This book was hard to put down and had some really shocking turns. I would recommend this to Patterson fans, and if you are not a fan, read all that you can get your hands on (especially the Alex Cross books like Kiss the Girls...).
Bought this book for my daughter because she and I both love James Patterson . He's a terrific author and holds your attention to the very end no matter what type of story he is writing. Love to be able to buy quality books at reasonable prices no cons just great books we can enjoy as Mother and Daughter.
Authors don't come better than James Patterson!! I am a huge fan of his and have read every book of his since 'Along Came a Spider' - and it gets even better with every book he writes!!
Wow, I don't normally read James Patterson, but after reading Beach Road I think I will read more in the future. The storyline goes very fast-paced and grips you from the very beginning. I was not prepared however, for the chilling twist at the end! It's a winner, A+
James Patterson and Peter Dejonge have done it again; another book which thrills, twists, and keeps the reader guessing. I bought Beach Road because my family and I love all James Patterson books. The story keeps one in suspense until the very end, which I found to be the most exciting ending yet written by these two authors.
I am totally obsessed with James Patterson, although I am not 100% done with the book, I already can't put it down! Yet again, Patterson knows how to write a real page turner!
I purchased Beach Road by James Patterson because I am a fan and read all his works. In typical style the book kept my intrigue and I finished it in 2 days.
He's done it again! Amazing endings, I had to read the last 2 chapters twice just to believe it. Character development a little tough to follow until one realizes that the chapter title is that character speaking because one chapter flows so easily into another. Another great story with unbelievable ending.
