This box set contains Baz Luhrmann's three feature films to date, which make up his so-called Red Curtain Trilogy: Strictly Ballroom (a very funny, atypical romantic comedy about a boy destined to be a ballroom dance champion and the nerdy girl who wants to dance with him), Romeo + Juliet (with Leonardo DiCaprio, guns and Shakespeare's original language), and Moulin Rouge (The doomed love story of a poet and a courtesan). Baz Luhrmann's (1996) "Romeo +Juliet," entertainingly updated Shakespeare's imagined Renaissance Verona to a "Miami Vice" pastel hallucination of Miami Beach, added a punchy soundtrack (that included Prince's "When Doves Cry," Wagner's "Liebstod," and haunting Radiohead exit music), and kept Shakespeare's lines -- well, at least the ones that are included are Shakespeare's, many were cut.
