Great Movie, too bad there's no more HD DVD out there it was a great format, I think that it would have taken off more, but then there has to be a winner, so my hats off to blue ray as well. I will keep this copy over my other copy of Batman Begins
Regards

Possibly the best Batman movie to date...
Review created: 06/10/08

This could be the best Batman movie out to date. The action, detail, cast, brings everything together. I decided to buy this to watch it prior to The Dark Knight coming out in theaters.

This is an excellent regeneration of this super hero. It pulls heavily from the graphic novels The Dark Knight: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. I would recommend this to anyone who likes the series.

Good story telling, true to comic book. Pretty fair special effects. Nice to get HD on the cheap, now that it lost the HD/Blu-Ray war..

  Best Batman Movie
Review created: 03/07/08
by:

I have been a Batman fan since the original TV series and ever saw the first Batman movie in 1966 in the theater on Broadway in Manhattan the weekend it opened. I have seen each subsequent movie the day it has opened and batman Begins has become my favorite. Crisp pacing, authentic fight scenes, excellent special effects, and well acted, plus a modern plot and no comic book humor. This myth has the depth to carry a full length movie and the franchise did not need to become a parody of itself after the second movie.

I'VE LOVED THIS MOVIE SINCE IT FIRST CAME OUT AND THE NEW HD VERSION HAS BEEN A TREAT FOR ME. THIS IS THE BEST OF ALL THE BATMAN MOVIES AND I HOPE THEY CAN TURN OUT A SEQUEL TO DO IT JUSTICE. THIS MOVIE IS BLESSED WITH GREAT CINEMATOGRAPHY AND THE TRANSFER TO HD HAS ONLY MADE IT BETTER. GREAT STORY/EXCELLENT SOUND/GREAT ACTING/GORGEOUS PICTURE. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR IN A MOVIE?

  Finally.. Someone got it right...

Finally someone got it right...after the last couple of outings, I seriously thought the Batman franchise was beyond repair, but then Hollywood is a land of re-invention, and, in the right hands, miracles do happen...

After watching this film, I couldn't decide if I liked it so much because it was just a great movie, or if it was due to the fact that it was so much better than the last few Batman movies, but then I realized it was a combination of both. Thankfully Nolan and Goyer recognized the state of disrepair the franchise was in and smartly avoided tying themselves to that which came before. Much like Sam Raimi did with Spider-Man, here we see a real understanding of the importance of aligning the film to that from which it came, the comic book (graphic novel, if you prefer), and focusing on adapting to the screen the essence of the characters, rather than trying to `fix what ain't broken'. There's a reason why some of these comic book characters have endured as long as they have, and fans don't appreciate someone coming along and monkeying around with the formula. The first half of the movie focuses on the background of Bruce Wayne, and how he finally came to donning the suit. This may seem like a good deal of time, but it worked for me in terms of fleshing out the characters, and detailing the motivations extremely well. I felt this was time well spent, and an investment that paid off later on...it is true Bale doesn't don the suit until about an hour in, and a great deal of the action is in the back end, but there's enough up front to keep things moving along at a strong pace. One aspect I found particularly interesting was the involvement of the character of Alfred in the story, played by Caine. He was a much more interesting character than in the past, as in prior films he seemed more of just another set piece. Here, he provides a sort of anchor for Bruce, one that doesn't let him slip off into the deep end of his alternate persona. I thought Bale did really well in his role, backed up by a very strong cast. I thought Murphy was excellent as the Scarecrow, exhibiting a quiet quirkiness one would expect from such an odd villain, but never going over the top, which would have felt out of place here, but not in the previous films. I would have liked to seen a little more of his character, but I guess it was better to leave one wanting more than to get too much. Also, I thought Oldman also did very well, bringing to life the character of Jim Gordon, the one, truly honest cop in a force besieged with corruption. I'm always amazed to which the levels Oldman goes to put himself within a character, especially here given the limited amount of screen time he had...I thought most everything on this film was done really well, from the sets, location shots, the overall feel, the strength of the characters, the writing, the pacing, the action, the stunt work, the gritty atmosphere, progression of the storyline, casting, effects...I really dug on that Bat Tank, especially during the exciting chase sequence with the police...you will believe a Bat Tank can fly...and we finally get to see where Batman gets those wonderful toys from...all in all I have to say Nolan and Goyer did an excellent job in bring the characters to life, and I hope the next film continues on the same track. Is this the birth of a new franchise? If the quality, excitement, and fun here are present in future projects, then I hope so...

  Batman Begins

My wife even liked this one. It is a very good movie. It is more true to the original story and comic books than the "campy" Batman Movies of the 90's. It really showed Batman's darkside and how the character is haunted by his own demons. Christian Bale is awesome in the role. Excellent Movie

  Fantastic Film !!
Review created: 08/10/07(updated 12/28/07)

What a GREAT movie !! Everyone involved did a fantastic job! From the writers, producers, director, actors, stuntmen and all of the behind-the-scenes folks.

A great job was done on the portrayals of the characters, from Mom & Dad, to Alfred & Bruce, to the mob boss & the creepy scarecrow, to the growth of the careers of James Gordon & Batman, to utilizing the financial & business resources of Wayne Enterprises.

The introduction of all of the very cool Batman “toys”, from the suit to the gadgets, as well as the Batmobile itself, is very well done and highly believable. Everything that Bruce acquires from the Archives Department, could conceivably happen.

Great special effects and great chemistry of the entire cast makes this film a must see & a must have for your video collection.

I would see 30 of these movies provided they are made with the main cast remaining intact as well as the director and writers, and the same attention to detail and character casting that this film has.

Make more !!!

IF YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL PLEASE VOTE. THANK YOU !!

Very well written and acted. A definite notch above the average comic book hero turned film. There are many levels to the character. and while the effects/gadgets are fun to watch, the movie holds up on its own. Looks fantastic in HD. Definitely one for the collection!

I also would have to agree with the other reviewer, this is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time, positively the best in the Batman series. The story comes full turn and the understanding of how Batman began. Chistian Bail plays a very good Batman, but still I would have loved to see Keaton play it, but in all it worked. Again the story moved and keep you on the edge of your seat the whole movie... I love it.. and want more..

  My Top 10 List!!!

'Batman Begins' is easily one of the best films ever made in my opinion. After you watch this you will never want different actors in any of the roles that were played in the movie. The acting is simply perfect and the effects amazing. The action feels so real and gritty. The direction of the Batman series has taken a turn towards legendary. I only hope the next one can match 'Batman Begins' but they have set a new bar for superhero movies in delivering adventure, great characters, and great action. Nice work on such a must own title Warner Bros. Perfect!!! 5/5

Batman Begins -- The rebirth of a franchise
Review created: 06/16/05
by: three_ster-- a member of Epinions and Top Reviewer in Movies

Pros:
Bale-Freeman-Oldman-Kaine, the darkness, the acting, the script, rewriting movie story

Cons:
none

Batman Begins is a return to glory for a franchise that was once thought to be sunk by Mr. Ocean and Joel S. Gone are the flashy colors that prevailed in the last 2 installments, and gone are the tongue in-cheek sexual references that try to make the characters more than they need to be. Instead, Batman is reinvented in this film, by the steady hand of Director Christopher Nolan. Those who have seen his films Insomnia and Momento, know that this is a man who can see the dark side of things, and boy does he take this film down a dark road. Relying more on the psyche, and less on flashy effects.

Batman Begins - Batman Makes an Amazing Return
Review created: 06/16/05
by: dragonfire88-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Movies

Pros:
Cast, direction, the way the story was handled

Cons:
None for me. Could be too slow in places for some viewers.

Batman has been one of the most popular comic book characters for years. I have never read any of the Batman comics and I didn t see the television show. When the first Batman movie was released in 1989, I had no desire to see it even though I had liked other shows, movies, and cartoons about comic book characters. I m not sure why I didn t want to see it then. I did see bits of a few of the movies on television and was intrigued, but it wasn t until late in 2004 that I actually saw all of Batman. I had seen most of the other Batman movies before that and was entertained by them even though...

Jingle Bells, Batman Sales, and Warner Brother's made a mint.
Review created: 11/23/05
by: cntaur5-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Movies

Pros:
The DVD is everywhere.

Cons:
Not for small children, graphic violence and lots of fights.

Lets forget about my efforts to re-write a Christmas jingle for Batman Begins 2005, with my corny introductory title and focus on this action packed film. The movie opens with young Bruce chasing Rachel through what looks like an enchanted garden. Rachel hides then young Bruce hides and falls to the bottom of a cave where bats suddenly fly out. The movie jumps to Bruce the bearded adult who is behind bars in what looks like an East Asian concentration camp. Bruce is harassed, intimidated and assaulted taking several good punches before defending himself to what seems like an army of fellow...

Batman Begins When Does It End?
Review created: 06/15/05
by: vadimio -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
good acting (mostly), great visual effects, solid cast, fits well with the other Batman movies

Cons:
some cheesy dialogue, Batman s voice, Scarecrow and his mask, seemed to drag on

It s been eight years since the horrible Batman

BATMAN BEGINS : MORE LIKE BATMAN RESTARTS.
Review created: 06/26/05
by: lammet -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Realism-anchored stylistic approach, Captivating story matter, Superb leading man fronting Star cast, Dark mood'.

Cons:
Too much story, Silly dialogue at times, Needlessly long running time.

After director Joel Schumacher run the cinematic Batman franchise to the ground with his two silly movies Batman forever and Batman and Robin Warner Bros execs were in for some serious thinking. The wait lasted 8 years: Batman begins , the latest Caped Crusader s episode, hit Theater screens on June 15. Time to rejoice or is it? One thing s for sure: Batman begins has very little in common with its predecessors - it breaks new ground and breaks away in numerous important ways. Chief among them and highly influential on the rest is Warner Bros assignment of Director-writer Christopher Nolan to.
