Basic Guitar Lessons by Happy Traum (1995)

After 20 years of attempting to teach myself how to play the guitar, this approach found me amazed at the progress I was able to make. It incorporates picking and strumming in a progressively structured fashion. I enjoyed learning songs of various genre, arranged at the appropriate level of difficulty. It helped me to have basic music background, like names of the notes on the scale, rhythm and note values, but that also is presented step by step. You can learn at your own pace. The CD provides a listening experience of the first several songs. The instructional tips helps you to get started. I have recommended this book to others. This purchase was made for a nephew who has expressed interest in learning the guitar. I would never part with my own copy.
