Witty and fun songs and very special for me, as we are getting Avenue Q this summer at our theatre. I have heard a number of the songs in concert before, and it is so refreshing to hear the cast recording.
What wonderful songs. Some of them out outrageously funny. Even the serious songs are funny. A bit racey. I would recommend this to anyone who has been out of college 5 years, or more.
I saw the show in NYC, and loved it so much, I had to have the CD. The best part is getting to hear all the funny things I missed at the show because I was laughing so hard. Great CD.
I never made it to NYC to see the real thing, but in a way, having this CD is even better. I can listen to the Original Broadway Cast anytime - mostly in my car or office - anytime I need a smile (especially those days when "It Sucks to be Me").
Heard Some of it on satelite radio-Broadway chanel and had to buy it. The album notes are great and I am planning to see the live show in Houston or Pittsburg this fall. Maybeboth places.
I loved the way this CD is edited. loved most of the songs even though I never watched the show itself. suites for adults how loves funny "muppets style" songs.
I have to admit I was a bit skeptical on this one but all the energy and full of the real life production of the muppets all grown up is outstanding. Without reservation this one needs to be heard. There is a great deal of truth in these tongue in cheek tunes!
I bought this as a christmas present for my girlfriendas a christmas present. She absolutely loved it. Avenue Q's songs are a hilarious parody of Sesame Street, including such songs as "If you were gay" and "The internet is for porn". This album is a must for the adult musical lover and is all the funnier if you happened to watch sesame street as a kid.
Ok, I admit, I have a thing for musicals... but not the 'Phantom of the Opera' or 'Les Miz' variety. I'm a bigger fan of the more contemporary stuff that isn't so wishy-washy and Oklahoma-esque. That said, Avenue Q is certainly one of my new favorites because it spins real life lessons in a way we all grew up with...
Racism, post-college job prospects, internet porn... these topics are all told through sesame street-like songs that you'll grow to love.
