I liked the illustrations, quality of paper, the deep colors and how it was put together. I got to see all the old band flyers/posters from back in the day (80's & 90's) again, which is why I bought the book. I also went to the EMP (Experience Music Project) in Seattle to see some of the original art work in the poster size version: The Art of modern Rock walk was great. This book is a great way to view all the great works of the artists if you didn't catch the show. It's an awesome way to go back to those days where we got to see the bands play and see that part of history in a book. Memory lane for me. Great book! Its going on my coffee table.
I bought this book for my brother who is an artist himself. The book is hypnotizing ~ each page pulls you in deeper and deeper. This is a fantastic gift for anyone who loves music and arts!
Well,im a rocker and i desire graphic arts and that book was amazing...it has every single Rock poster that was published since the first poster was published in 19.. I really recomen this book to everyone...it has a very nice collection of rock posters!
This is an essential book for any poster collector, lover of pop art, cultural historian or anyone who just enjoys quirky, kitschy, and somewhat sexy or dark cartoon art. The presentation of the posters is great. The depth and breath of coverage is enviable. The color and detail of the original work is also very good. If I could add anything at all to this book it would some more insight from the artists themselves. I'd love to know what inspired some of the individual works shown here. Otherwise, it's a great work of modern art!
If you are at all interested in Poster Design, Graphic Design and/or Rock Music, this is the book for you. Filled to the brim with incredible posters and lively commentary, this book covers the history and significance of the Rock Poster. Great for anyone interested in Poster Design, Music, Shows, or just plain ol' good art. I'd highly recommend this gem.
