My 2nd grade daughter loves it. I did the first several "picture hunts" with her and since then she's been "working" on her own and commented several times on how much she's enjoying it. An easy way to expose your child to more art and learn good observation skills too.

  Great Learning Book

I bought the Art Fraud Detective book because I homeschool my two daughters. My oldest daughter needs to take a fine arts class. This book is a fun and interesting way to learn about artist and their paintings in a non boring way for kids. I would purchase more books that have this kind of learning format.

Pros:
Great for many different areas of learning.

Cons:
Long-term project

This book was recommended to us by a home-school mom on one of my yahoo groups. I placed in on "hold" at the library and after about 6 months I was able to check it out. Either our library doesn't have enough of these books or it is very popular. The book is a detective book, an art history book, an I-Spy type of book, an alphabetizing practice book and a logical thinking book. At the beginning of the book we are told by an anonymous caller that thieves have stolen some (but not all) of the famous paintings in the museum. The caller gives us instructions on how to determine which paintings...

Gorgeous, Interesting gift book for kids age 7 - 10+

Pros:
Engrossing and educational for kids; parents will enjoy pouring over it with kids, too.

Cons:
Requires concentration! After a couple of hours we needed a break.

Art Fraud Detective is a gorgeous book. Created in association with the National Gallery, this book by Anna Nilsen features reproductions of 34 paintings by masters including Rembrandt, Degas, Rapheal, Van Gogh, Monet, Da Vinci, and more. What's better: it's an activity book for older children, and one that grows with children. Hence, I don't know where the "top" of the age range is for this book...my 9-year-old still loves it, and frankly, I do too. The book comes with a magnifying glass and three pages of introduction: several rings of art thieves have stolen some (but not all) of these...
