A great Final entry in the Evil Dead series
Review created: 01/12/07(updated 03/02/07)

Bruce Campbell delivers one of the best performances in cinematic history and really solidified himself as one of the Baddest Men on the Planet.

Army of Darkness is hilarious, action-packed, and a little freaky at times. Army of Darkness is a classic and it belongs in everybodies DVD collections, right next to Evil Dead 1 & 2.

Final Verdict:

5/5

Rent or Buy?: A must buy, along with Evil Dead 1 & 2.

i love this movie,i cant count how many times i have watched this movie.Every time its on tv(and that,s alot)i cant help but sit down and watch it.its one of my favorites. The boomstick edition is extremely hard to find.Belive me,i was outbidded at least 3 different times before i finally won me a copy on ebay.If you already own one of the other versions of Army of Darkness. You might just want to stick with that version. But for the collectors out there its worth it.

Army of Darkness Boomstick edition DVD
Review created: 06/09/07

I already own the DVD for the movie Army of Darkness along with the first two movies in Bruce Campbell's Evil Dead Triology, however the Boomstick edition has the hard to find Directors Cut that was shown in theaters in addition to the version that is currently available. I knew that it would be next to impossible to order this from a local music or video retail store and so I turned my search to my main source for hard to find and unique movie items, which of course is ebay.

 Army od Darkness Rules
Review created: 03/06/07

This DVD is one of the best out there. It is also one of the hardest to find when it comes to the Evil Dead collection. The feature film on the two sides dick has two vesions to it. One has the film with over 10 minutes of bonus time and the other is even more complete with the added time as well as the original ending. This DVD is a must have for collectors out there. The bonus features will give you tons of information on the making of the film. As well give you time to laugh your ass off. This film pays homage to the legends of film making through the use of stop-motion. Which was used in the original King Kong and all the Ray Harryhausen films. As well as some of the best puppet work available at that time. Bruce Campell is timless as Ash who comes to be thown into the mix of Middle-Ages and demons. And using his style more than his brains as a character Ash make every effort to stop the creatures with more laughs than you can imagine. So if you have a chance get this film and enjoy as well as share it with others who have never heard of it.

Not only does the boomstick edition have the alternate ending, but it features commentary from both sam raimi and bruce campbell. by far the best dvd edition of this movie to date. it has also been pulled from the shelves of all local stores so i was very glad to find it.

There have been quite a few releases of this great movie. From what I can tell some of them are exactly the same with minor differences, such as the cover art, but the actual disc has the same content. This particulat version also has a rather nice booklet that came inside the DVD. If you want the MOST from this DVD I think the Boomstick edition is your best bet, otherwise check out the other selections available and make sure they have the deleted scenes and commentary tracks. As far as I can tell the 'extra' disc features are all the same, if they have them, some dont!.

I love this movie because it is a "horror" movie although it is hilarious and a magnificent end to the "Evil Dead" trilogy.

 Come Get Some!

Pros:
Hilarious. Bruce Campbell is excellent.

Cons:
Won't appeal to some people, cats, dogs and mentally retarded midgets.

I remember seeing the trailers on television for the theatrical release of this film. Back then it was advertised as being the third in a series of films (unknown to me at the time), which is probably why I did not check it out in the theater. Why should I see number three, when I haven't seen the first or second? That was way back in 1993. Boy was I missing out on something wonderful! A few years ago I saw the video release in a local media superstore and since it was relatively cheap, I decided to give it a shot. Heck, if I didn t like it I could just tape over it and it would be a really...

Pros:
Campbell, Effects, Music

Cons:
Too much slapstick

Closing off director Sam Raimi s trilogy of films started off with The Evil Dead and made good by Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn, 1993 s Army of Darkness was actually the first in the series that I ever watched, renting it shortly after it hit video shelves. Funnily enough, 8 year old me wasn t actually all that impressed by the film, more down to the way it had been marketed than anything else. You see, I rented it on the premise of the original sleeve, which showed a ridiculously buff man with a chainsaw for an arm and a shotgun in the other hand with hordes of skeletons wielding swords below...

The Army of Darkness has nothing on the ASH of MANLINESS
Review created: 12/15/07
by: updateghost-- a member of Epinions and Top Reviewer in Movies

Pros:
Bruce Campbell. Sam Raimi. Humor. Action.

Cons:
Maybe the occasional lame line?

Note: Yes, this is very intentionally a quasi-play on my Robocop review from a few months back. Before David Beckham, before Chuck Norris, before Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (and Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean Claude van Damme and Leslie Nielsen) there was... ASH. Kids, the last grocery clerk that you want to mess with in the universe is ASH (played by Bruce Campbell)). This is the guy who sawed his right hand off after it was possessed by an evil spirit. ASH (memorize that name, kids) was thrown into a pit with an ogre and climbed out alive. ASH faced an entire group of graveyard skeletons and.

Pros:
Another fine performance from Bruce Campbell, More stylish Sam Raimi direction

Some gags run too long, plot never lives up to the film's potential

Army of Darkness: Renaissance Pictures/ Anchor Bay Home Entertainment Rating: USA: R/ UK: 15/ Australia: M Poor Ash after battling hordes of Kandarian demons in the first two Evil Dead films, he now finds himself trapped in the middle ages surrounded by hordes of Kandarian demons and about to do battle with an army of deadites in Sam Raimi s Army of Darkness. Socko's Movie Review of Army of Darkness

Pros:
Bruce Campbell, nuff said

Cons:
Might not play to the hardcore fans of the first two Evil Dead

OK, stop right there. Yeah, that s right, I m talking to you over there getting ready to read this review. Now, you ve probably just come from my review of the original film of this trilogy, Evil Dead (and if you haven t read it yet, make sure to stop by, as it s a pretty good read if I do say so myself, and I do). You are probably thinking to yourself, Horror sequel, more gore, less plot, not nearly as good as the original. Right there is where you would be wrong. To truly appreciate this film (and this review), you have to have seen the first two movies in the trilogy as references, but you.
