Apple iPod Fourth Gen. (20 GB, M9282LL/A) MP3 Player

I jumped on the bandwagon and bought this and have since often wondered if some of the others might have been a better buy. Yes, there are more accessories for this one, it has a cool look when it is new, the click wheel is cool, and more people are familiar with it. However, it has its drawbacks.
The iTunes interface isn't very flexible for personal preferences. My files previously were stored in folders by genre, then sub-folders by artist, etc. I could then play all music of an artist, genre, etc, and shuffle the songs within those choices. The only way you can shuffle with iPod is shuffle all the songs on the iPod. You may get some 80s heavy metal song, then follow that with some bubble-gum pop song you still aren't sure why you ever saved. The only way to change this is by going through a very tedious task of creating playlists.
One other big problem is that the iPod is very prone to scratches. The screen scratched the first day when I put it in the inside pocket in my jacket, which has a soft liner and shouldn't scratch anything. The chrome back is also cool looking, but also very prone to scratches.
I would also like to see them add some equalizer type functionality to the iPod for listening preferences.
The thing plays music just fine and hasn't had a functional problem yet, but I would suggest considering other options before purchasing this item.

It works great, exactly what I wanted! I would have to say it's better than my last one I owned. Just for the simple fact that it hold way more songs. I would recamend this Ipod to people who need a lot of space to work with.

i am very greatful to have ebay as a resource it's fantastic, i was looking for a present for my daughter she turned 15 recently and her mp3 player just wasnt making her life complete then she received her apple ipod i purchased on ebay i dont think she has asked me for anything since although there is the pre paid itunes cards, small price to pay to silence a teenager. i really received a great deal on a high quality piece of equipment, thankyou.

i dont know the first one i got didnt work and now a couple weeks later im still waiting to get a diff one. i decided to buy it cause my son just had to have it!

This ipod holds 5,000 songs and thats plenty enough. How nice to have all that tunes on the road in a small package. Easy click wheel and the shuffle function is a great idea. I would buy a protective case with belt clip for it.

Great buy. I bought the thinking it was thinner. I am not familiar with the generations, this is a 4th. Overall the ipod is fine. And I recommend it for any buyer.

Its probably a good product. But the jew that sent it too me sent it broken. Ebay sucks for allowing scammers to screw with people.
