I am a middle school Language Arts teacher. I am always looking for exciting books for my 6th graders. The Anybodies by N. E. Bode (Julianna Baggott) was our favorite last year. The story is about a girl named Fern who learns her true identity throughout the course of the book. She learns that the odd things that have happened in her young life are just signs of more excitement to come. My 6th graders and I loved the references to other books that they have read. It was a great introduction to literary allusion and jaunt down memory lane. The humor is great. Julianna Baggott is a truly talented writer of children's literature. I was completely delighted a week ago when my 7th graders (the same students from last year's 6th grade class) asked if we could read the next two novels in the series (The Nobodies and The Somebodies). I think that speaks volumes!
