  Best Floyd Album

This is probably one of the most underrated albums by Pink Floyd. Many critics seem to pass this awesome album up and look ahead to Dark side of the moon and the wall. Animals is a wonderful album, but only if you listen to it in the whole. It doesn't have the singles type of songs as The Wall has, but more of a collective musical piece. The songs are just utterly amazing and the music evolves throughout the album.

This and Pipers at the Gates of Dawn are Pink Floyd's best albums. Love it.

  Excellent
Review created: 01/04/08

This is one of my fav Pink Floyd albums, so I got it as a Chrismas present for my stepdad. It's really kind of a short album, but with this one, it's all about the quality, not the quantity. The songs are really mellow, mostly acoustic, with the trademark psychedelia that Pink Floyd is famous for. A must have for your music collection.

Animals - Which One's Pink - Top 5 Albums of All Time
Review created: 12/19/06

This whole album is one of the greatest Pink Floyd albums of all time. They have really made such a perfect concept here. Pigs, Dogs, and Sheep is general idea here, and the fact we all fit into one of these categories. Pigs make the rules, Dogs enforce the rules, and sheep follow the rules.

My Top 5 Pink Floyd Albums Of All Time

5. Meddle
4. A Saucerful of Secrets
3. Darkside of The Moon
2. Wish You Were Here
1. Animals

Close but No Cigar, "The Wall" and "Piper At The Gates"

I like buying CD's from people only in the states. I have found that when you buy from people outsid the US that the quality of th CD is very poor. Th CD's start skipping after being played a few tims.

I really like that you can sort items according to where you want to buy from.

"Animals" is the most under-rated and obscure offering from Floyd. It surprises me that even Floyd fans are generally unaware, or ignorant of this album.... It shows signs of Waters gliding into his depression - which is not really welcome...., but Gilmour saves the day with some of his most inspired guitar work on record. "Animals" has a heavy edge and it comes off really good. It took me a long, long time before I had managed to understand "Animals", but as of now it's one of my fave Floyd offerings.

  Orwellian Nightmare On Record
Review created: 05/09/04

Pros:
great music, sonic brilliance

Cons:
very bleak subject matter

Pink Floyd is one of those bands that holds a seminal place in rock history. They have been an innovative band that has pushed boundaries both musically and lyrically. They have produced some of the greatest concepts albums ever. They started off as a quirky psychedelic band but evolved into a substantial progressive act. The Wall inspired a movie and a legendary live presentation too big for a full fledged tour. Dark Side of the Moon remained on the charts for two or three centuries. They have managed to produce some of the most complex and provocative rock music ever recorded. One of their.

Five Stars for Pink Floyd's Animals (I've Got The Music In Me Write Off)
Review created: 05/31/02

Pros:
Essential Pink Floyd album. Excellent musicians! Guitar work is particularly impressive!

Cons:
Never got the attention it deserved

This review is my entry into kristinafh s I've Got The Music In Me Write Off in which we are supposed to Write about a CD that deserves five stars. I cannot believe the album Animals, by Pink Floyd, came out in 1977. Am I really that old? I loved this album from the first time I heard it. I could argue that it is Pink Floyd s best album, but I could make that argument about several different Floyd albums. I chose to write about this album for the write off because it is probably the most neglected of all of Pink Floyd s works. I consider Animals to be the third album in a trilogy of Pink...

  Political innuendos aside...it's good music
Review created: 05/11/00
by: Gr8ful -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Well written, full in concept, good music

Cons:
Some offensive language and political statements

I thought this album to be one of Roger Waters more inventive creations, in the same emotional setting (sound wise), and political as "The Final Cut". This album has been ridiculed and picked apart to the point that it seems people forget it's entertainment and not a politician. So Roger gets out some of his fantasies about the declining western democracies, big deal. The fact remains, it's good music, well written and complete in concept. David Gilmore doesn't play the awesome guitar solos he is so famous for in other Floyd albums but he plays what NEEDS to be played to make the music work...

Pink Floyd's Animals: Dogs, pigs, sheep and Roger Waters
Review created: 08/21/01
by: adjensen -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Biting commentary; phenomenal guitar by David Gilmour

Cons:
Diminished role by Richard Wright; the beginning of the end of the Floyd

From 1971 to 1977, Pink Floyd had one of the most phenomenal run of albums anyone has ever released. Side two of Meddle in 1971 was the fantastic "Echoes," followed by Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and finally, Animals. Although DSotM is the best known of this series of albums, I personally think that WYWH is the best overall album, "Echoes" is the best song and Animals is the best concept. I think that Animals falls a bit short of the previous albums because of the reduced participation of keyboardist Rick Wright. This meant a bigger role for David Gilmour, whose guitar I love,...

  Oink, Oink, Woof, Woof, Baaaaa!

Pros:
Woof Woof! Baaaaa!

Cons:
Oink Oink!

Animals is probably the rockiest, grungiest thing yet produced by Pink Floyd. In 1977, it was released as the follow-up to the massively successful work of genius Wish You Were Here, an album dedicated to Syd Barrett. On that LP, they only included 5 tracks, but seemed to get away with it as tracks one and five were two parts of a 26-minute epic entitled Shine On You Crazy Diamond which seemed more like ten tracks. Here, they've used the same formula, except they don't get away with it as much: while the length of this album's 5 tracks make it technically long at 45 minutes, it still feels...
