This item was an open box which I was told it was sealed. Also I purchase an ipod cable at the same time and they told me they would shipp both together and waive my extra shipping fee. They never did. I payed an extra $9 and I have complained numerous times and they keep telling they will credit me on the back end. It has been almost 2 months and this never happened . Very disappointed and will never recommend them.

  Excellent subwoofer amp! Great Value!
Review created: 06/14/08

I've been a professional car audio installer for over 10 years. Alpine is always the "go to" brand for sound quality and reliability. Alpine's lower end V series amps have always been a great value. It seems that every year each model gains more and more power. Now this sub-$200 amp is pushing as much juice as amps double the price. It's great for two entry level subwoofers or a single 350 watt subwoofer. Great sound quality, great control and a pleasure to work with.

the amp is great but when choosing i got an amp that was under powered for the sub I have. At low to medium volumes it sounds great. I would recommend this amp to anyone.

I bought a used one about a year ago for $85 and I have been pretty impressed with its performance. I have it driving one cheap sony 10" sub and I have to say this little amp is great. It never gets hot and seems to produce a lot more than the 200WRMS that alpine specifies. Can't go wrong with alpine, their stuff is tight. The sony sub seems to be getting a little bit loose now and before long will need an upgrade, the abuse from the amp was too much for it.

  Alpine does it again

I bought this amplifier to power my subwoofer in my car after my previous one died. I bought my last amp new and it didn't even last a year. My brother had purchased this amp around the same time and it still rocks his subs. He has it wired to two bridged 300watt rms subs, only supplying about 250 watts, and it sounds like so much more. Alpine writes the book on quality over quantity.

The product name speaks for itself. If you read other reviews you know why you got this far. This is a truely ecptional product. I'm not gonna go into detail about this product for the fact I've tossed back a few drinks. I'm in hopes you will get the D.L. on this ALPINE wonder. I paid $100 w/ shipping for this model, granted it was used but worth every penny. It sellss for $230 at Best Buy. Used or not buy, buy it I promise you will blow more speakers than you thought possible.

This amp is really small for 400wrms at 2 ohms. Not a lot of extra features but the basics are all there to put some thunder in your car. Have not run it that long but seems to work nice so far. I don't care for the trim covers, I just don't like parts to get lost on an amp and they make it harder to adjust it in the car from the top. But that is just a detail issue. I wish they would have made it look finished if they were not on it. With some mountings you can get to the controls easily though; like from the end.

Class D technology is nice as it takes less power for the watts it puts out, and makes less heat. I like the basic good looks of the unit, terminals work well and are sturdy, and have not found any negatives with the amp aside from my preference on trim panels. The way it is made it seems fairly resistant to cosmetic damage also, no shiny stuff to easily scratch. I think it has a built in subsonic as I recall, but you may want to be careful if you port a box to higher frequency with a low wattage sub as it will unload it. I would say its greatest strength is the small size and the fact that it seems to work pretty good with clean sound and strong output, plus the basic features to get the job done.

IMO in this price range it is great offering with lots of mounting options. You might have to get another MRP for your high amp because this might look funny being smaller than many existing class AB amps, if you care. But that is the way of more efficient class D technology. It is a more difficult technology to use full range, but odds are they will become popular some day. I have no way to measure it other than comparing to many other amps I have used, but it seems to be up to its output ratings and the sound is great. If you want fancy lights and chrome, or lots of control options like a variable subsonic then it may not work out for you. This is a great set it and forget it amp that takes up little room.

Best amp to buy if you are powering 1 sub. So it is a great amp but i suggest using all alpine componets and stinger wire. it will sound much better.

  Alpine M450 Amp

I gave it a good rating, as it is used and I have not installed this amplifier yet due to bad weather, I do not have a garage. The appearance looks great, not too big for an amp of its power. Even being a used amp it looks great hardly shows signs of use. All wire covers are present, all fuses are present and test out good. Adjustment nobs are in good shape they aren't rung off from trying to use pliers to turn them like other used amps in the past I have looked at. Can't wait to get this installed.
