This is one of my all time favorite movies and I have watched it repeatedly. I do not think there could be any way to improve this movie at all. It's on my list of 5-stars.
The acting is fantastic and I love each of the characters. The fact that it is based on Cameron Crowe's real life adventures only adds to the magic of the movie.
Never was a groupie myself, but this movie would have changed my mind because I felt as if I had missed something. It makes me laugh to see these antics!
It's the chance of a lifetime when teenage reporter William Miller lands an assignment from Rolling Stone magazine. Despite the objections of his protective mother, William hits the road with an up-an-coming rock band and finds there's more to write home about than the music.
Golden Globe winner, Kate Hudson does a phenominal job portraying one of the band's "groupies". I really enjoyed the nostalgic feel of this film. The movie also recieved a Golden Globe award, for Best Picture.
Cameron Crowe wrote and directed this film. 2hrs,3min. Rated R. Awesome soundtrack as well.
It's definitely a feel good movie. After about an hour I thought it was decent, but by the end I really liked it. Kate Hudson is great, so is the kid. Good movie, definitely worth watching.
Excellent seller. Item came very quickly, was at an excellent price with reasonable (and realistically priced!) shipping. Item in perfect condition with all materials.Would look for them when I shop again. An effortless pleasure
Almost Famous is one of the best movies about rock and roll of all time IMO. It has great characters that you can relate to, a nice love story and some classic scenes(i.e. the Tiny Dancer singalong).
This is honestly one of the best movies that ive ever seen! Crowe is a genious! Nancy Wilson is amazingly talented! Casting did a great job with the actors, and Billy Crudup, Kate Hudson, and Patrick Fugit are mesmerizing! This is based on director Cameron Crowe's real life story, and it is truly wonderful! I love it!
I was a kid in the 60's and 70's so i remember the music, and its influence. It was a great movie and a good example of the time and just how crazy the music world is.
This movie is a must-have for any serious music lover, movie lover or DVD collector out there! Fantastic ensemble cast, excellent story and script! It is definitely a feel-good classic! Makes you appreciate music all over again. Cameron Crowe directed this beautifully, and you forget for a little while this is a fictitious movie and not a documentary.
In short, there's no way you won't like this movie!
Almost Famous is a great story of a young rock journalist who gets his first big assignment touring with a national act. The band struggles to make it to the top, and he struggles to decide between his job, his new friends, and his over protective mother. Billy Crudup, Kate Hudson, Frances McDormand, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman give outstanding performances. The ending leaves you smiling, and a great soundtrack tops it off. This movie hits home for anyone who lives to make music... and anyone who has ever loved a band.
I fell in love with that movie from the first time I watched it. I got robbed in a hotel in FL and they took my DVDs including Almost Famous. I'm so happy I bought another one. Is a great movie about a teenager pursuing his dream of becoming a journalist. He goes to a tour across USA with his favorite band and live with them each joy, trouble, challenging and victory of being a beginner… beginners as professionals, as people and as friends. He fell in love with one of the groupies, Penny Lane, and everything becomes harder. He needs to finish his paper but he struggles between writing about friends and being a professional and writing about the band. At the end he is a brilliant writer…and an amazing friend.
I like every thing about it . my aunt says that is what it was really like in those days.It has great music. and it shows how truth will set you free. I just wish that we knew what happend with them in the future . we need a sequil.
i love the song in this movie and the way the band played .love the happy ending.i just hope every one that order's this movie will love it as much as i do.
This movie is about a young writer covering a rock band in 1973. The movie portrays the life on the road for a struggling band trying to make it to the big time.
Great... like brand new. Recieved item promptly! The DVD case was practically untouched and there are no scratches. I am pleased with the product and the seller's promptness.
No matter how you slice it it's hard to deny that Cameron Crowe is an incredibly talented director. If you love Rock & Roll and/or Kate Hudson this is a must buy. No matter your interests, this is fantastic movie that's sure to entertain you.
This is by far one of my favorite movies. As a young person headed into the music business myself, I found myself wrapped up in the story and wishing that I was born a few decades earlier! The casting is excellent, classic rock tunes play at the most perfect times, and the plot is VERY believable! Love it, love it, love it!

Pros: Performances by Hudson, Crudup and Fugit, Classic Rock & Roll!
Cons: None!
Almost Famous is a movie from 2000 that is considered a comedy with light drama. It is directed and written by Cameron Crowe, who brings his personal experience as writing as a journalist for Rolling Stone Magazine to the script. Crowe won an Oscar in 2001 for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen for Almost Famous. It is an awesome move that all classic rock fans will enjoy. Lights, Camera....Action! Almost Famous is about a high school boy, William Miller (Patrick Fugit), who loves to write, especially about Rock

Stillwater Runs Deep in Cameron Crowe's Rock-and-Roll Anthem

Pros: Sex, drugs and rock-and-roll: the year's most moral movie
Cons: The first song is by Alvin and the Chipmunks...but don't worry, the beat picks up
Almost Famous might just be the greatest rock-and-roll movie ever made (with apologies to Grease, The Rose and This is Spinal Tap). It is certainly one of the greatest movies of 2000 twelve months that are shaping up as the Year of the Cineplex Wasteland. As we head into the season of Oscar contenders (of which Almost Famous is sure to be one), I can think of only two other movies which would make my Top List for this year: Erin Brockovich and Nurse Betty, and even those sit on the cusp, ready to be bumped by something better. So, when a movie like Cameron Crowe s tribute to the 1970s rock...

Almost Famous is Almost Perfect

Pros: Acting. Direction. Climax. Script.
Cons: Penny Lane's last moment.
Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous (2000) opened to rave reviews because it touched the hearts of geezers everywhere. Here was a film that ubiquitously classic-rocked out and made innocuous pot-shots at household names of all types. Hunter S. Thompson, Rolling Stone, and Mick Jagger are all wisecracked; the film's frequent elbow-nabs always resonate. Though it is a good film, Almost Famous's nostalgia blinded critics to an essential flaw. It's the 1970s. William Miller (Patrick Fugit), a shoegazing fifteen-year-old amateur journalist who works his way into up-and-coming (fictional) rock band...

Cameron Crowe's Love Letter

Pros: Solid story, wonderful cast, good direction
Cons: Nothing major
Watch a movie in which the main character seems an extension of how you see a past self and your perspective may be forever altered. I experienced this epiphany when I first saw Almost Famous on an airplane several months ago. Knowing the butchery that masquerades as film editing for such audiences, I waited until seeing the DVD version of this film before writing an Epinion. Wow. A story line that flows from a gifted writer with decades of experience mingles with brilliant performances from a cast that is itself almost famous. Add solid directing from the author, technical expertise in the...
