I like it very much that this book is bilingual. I really like the illustration of this book. I bought a few extras to give to my friends children as gifts. I am a teacher and can use these at work. I will be opening a daycare in the future and these books are perfect for it! Cheryl
I purchased two 35-book lots of "Ally's Alarm Clock," a Spanish/English bilingual title, for a children's literacy program that works with many children who speak Spanish as a first language. Although the books' low price was certainly a factor, I do not purchase every affordable Spanish children's book lot I see listed, because many seem culturally inappropriate (with primarily Anglo stories and/or characters) or have television/movie connections. Please note that as illustrated, Ally and her younger sister Emma may or may not be Latina.
I was not familiar with "Ally's" plot, however, a brief review from a local bookseller described it as a humorous story about a girl and her sister whose noisy alarm clock goes off too early one morning and winds up being thrown from house to house in the neighborhood. The books were shipped directly to the literacy program, whose coordinator described this book as "good, but not great."
I just graduated with my Master's last month. I will be a first time Spanish teacher at the local high school when school starts back up. Anything with Spanish involved I like to get. These books are non only on a simple level but also bilingual. They are great!
