My First George CD
Review created: 05/17/07

This was the first George Harrison CD I bought. There is so much classic rock that was before my time and I've slowly been trying to discover it. There were a few songs I knew from the radio that I liked right off. The rest kind of had to grow on me. Even now it's a little hit and miss. Hardcore Beatles and Clapton fans should love it. As for me I like it a lot. 4 Stars.

All Things Must Pass--Harrison, George (CD 2001)

I recently purchased (via ebay auction) George Harrison's epic "All Things Must Pass" double cd and was pleasantly surprised by the ease of the transaction as well as the quality of the cds. The recording of these cds was digitally remastered in 2001 and they are without any imperfections (this was a used item).
Whenever I need something for myself or a family member; the first place I look is ebay. Not only do I find most of the things I'm looking for but usually they are at a great price. The feedback rating of the individual is of utmost importance in all my decisions regarding bidding and purchasing.

All Things Must Pass - George Harrison

Pros:
Most of the songs are real good

Cons:
There is still some filler, the Original Jam section blows

It turns out that only two months after the release of the big single, My Sweet Lord from the George Harrison solo album All Things Must Pass, that the royalties coming in for this number one single ceased globally due to the allegation that plagiarism had taken place. The 60's female Motown group claimed that George's song sounds a little too much like their single He's So Fine. A federal court in the US had found George Harrison guilty of plagiarism, and so the royalties were once again beginning to flow, but now into the pockets of the four ladies from the Bronx known as The Chiffons. Yet,.

Pros:
Great song writing, Clapton, Mason, Baker, Preston, Specter

Cons:
Rough and dark, some of the songs are very sad - fitting though

Couch Concerts Over the years dad periodically brought records home for the family, and he made us all sit and listen to them, from front to back, start to finish all the way from the left hand edge. Only albums that were in the truly amazing category warranted a couch concert; which meant that he and mom would get high, and we would have to sit very quietly for the duration. Sgt. Peppers and the White Album were two that made that kind of impact. Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile by the Beach boys, and Dave Mason s Alone Together were a few others. I can tell you, I don t remember being introduced.

The best album you've never heard: All Things Must Pass

Pros:
Heartfelt, moving, incredible.

Cons:
A few lulls in the energy, but they're scarce.

I will never forget the first time I heard All Things Must Pass. My boyfriend and I were living in our car, and we played it on a Discman connected to the radio. It really was the best of times and the worst of times. While I loved the nomadic freedom of being homeless, I was dying inside... tired, malnourished, cold, hungry, dirty. I wanted out. Sunrise doesn't last all morning... I just wanted to hear it. I needed to hear it. And George Harrison said it: All things must pass. There's a few things you need to know about All Things Must Pass. First and foremost, this is widely considered to...

The "Quiet" Beatle? He's not so quiet here!
Review created: 12/02/01

Pros:
Harrison's songwriting and guitar playing talent is on ample display here.

Cons:
That George is now gone, the jams are not bad but inessential.

Every band always seems to have its underrated member. In REM, it's Mike Mills, for Led Zeppelin it was John Paul Jones and for the Beatles, it was definitely George Harrison. George, the youngest member of the Beatles, was their lead guitarist. He started off somewhat overshadowed by the talents of Lennon/McCartney. But he always managed to put at least one song on each album (with the exception of the totally Lennon/McCartney composed A Hard Days Night). He finally found his voice in 1965 with the Rubber Soul album and the wonderful "If I Needed Someone". He really came into his own the...

Endorsed by four of the seven dwarfs, apparently
Review created: 05/29/01

Pros:
Out of this world production, strong melodies- a work of striking beauty

Cons:
Lyrics sheet resembles a sect pamphlet with some poor man's Dr.Seuss thrown in

Throughout Pop history, there have been albums which posses such an overwhelming beauty that they manage to completely excuse the mannerisms and egos of their creators- this is the case of Brian Wilson s dorkyness on Pet Sounds ; of Roger Water s narcissistic visions on The Wall ; and it is most certainly also the case of George Harrison s preachiness on All Things Must Pass , his recently re-released masterpiece. You see, by all human logic, All Things Must Pass should be an abomination. Let loose from The Beatles, George Harrison produced a three (!) record set so orchestrated and...
