Full of great songs, and great songs, this is a great album. I agree the inclusion of the apple jams was not the greatest idea, but its a nice experiment of some great musicians having a blast playing with each other.
The packaging is awesome, and the intro by George in the booklet is marvelous. I never listened to the original version, but this sounds as good as if it was new, although i dont like the mix of one of my favorite tracks: "Wah-wah" the voice is really unclear with all the reverb and instrumentation on top of it. I like the extra tracks, im not so fond of My sweet lord 2000 tho.
All in all, a must have album

I bought this because I heard: "Wah Wah" on "The Concert for George" and loved:"All Things Must Pass". I had George performing the latter in Beatle collections but never connected that it was a solo track until much later. I then realised that I had to have it as a part of my collection. My love of this CD was deepened when I learned that Clapton and: "Derek and The Dominoes" had helped out!

In short, this is a must buy. This is not something that you will listen to again and again like you would "The Beatles" but it's nice to have and very positive spiritual music.

  Harrison's Finest work

I bought the original vinyl of this, when it first came out. And now that I have recently finished reading George's ex-wife's biography (Pattie Boyd, a wonderful book by the way) I understand a lot more about the lyrics in this album than I ever did before. Plus I am more mature now and I am amazed at the maturity Harrison showed back then, in his lyrics.
Pattie Boyd was an inspiration to both George and Eric Clapton, and thanks to her, I now understand many of Clapton's lyrics as well.
But I have been playing an old tape I found, just one of the two, of this album and it reminded me of all the talent that George had, but was never really given the ability to share, by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. And I think this has to do with Lennon actually being the "creator" of the band and partially because George was the youngest, when he joined, and didn't really know how to play an instrument.
But he learned his lesson well. He became a fine lyricist and his guitar work is extraordinary. He may not have started out of the gate as a great musician but he grew into one. As far as I am concerned, his spirituality, his misgivings about his life, his marriage, his insecurities, his hopes, dreams are all revealed in this album of music. It is magical to listen to.

This is a greatest hits George Harrison album. It was his first album after the Beatles broke up and while Paul started off a little slow George came right out with his best. John had Imagine. I think all three albums had number one hits back in the day...

  ALL THINGS MUST PASS

This "is" one of the best solo albums put forth by an x-beatle and the first 3 record rock album in R&R history. Certainly far better than John Lennons first solo album "Imagine" and Paul McCartneys very crude sounding first album titled "McCartney". Phil spector (producer) was perfect for George because he was able to enhance George's thin & often strained sounding voice by double tracking and the use of reverb. If you listen to george's later efforts (he tried to produce himself) his voice is weak and thin sounding and instrument arangements less than impressive. The only drawback to Phil Spector's "wall of sound" style is that there are so many multi-tracks that it tends to make the "tone" quality a little muddy & dull. I wish the volume on George's voice was raied a bit it tends to be a little buried in the music. This is a "must have" album for beatle fans.

While this certainly is not the greatest effort put forth by an ex-Beatle, it should merit some attention, since it's George Harrison's best. This was the first proper solo album from Harrison and had a worldwide smash with the single "My Sweet Lord". There are some really good songs like "What is Life?", "I'd Have You Anytime", "Wah Wah" and much more. The downside of this album is the over-production from maniac Phil Spector, his penchant for reverb have some songs sounding like a huge mess of sound. Also George's bright idea of a half an hour of jams at the end of disc 2 is a big waste of time. The bonus tracks are great though!
