Welcome back U2
Review created: 04/26/07

It is very encouraging to see the return of U2 after their weird dance with the techno scene. After all, they are one most melodic rocking bands with something to say.
"Beautiful Day"starts the album well.It rocks like U2 should. The Edge and his
guitar are up front and intense."Stuck In A Momement"is a great song:Bono always sings from the heart."Elevation"has some techno influence, but it is cool:Adam Clayton drives the big, slinky, sexy bass of this song."Walk On" is another fine example of Bono. The Edge's solo in "Kite" is wonderfully unique.
The whole song is good."In A Little While" has great lyrics."Wild Honey" is actually a fun loving love song."Peace On Earth"shows Bono to have the biggest
social conscious since John Lennon( a true champion of peace)It is nice to see
Bono take up the flag of social justice."When I Look At The World" shows how
experienced and mature U2 has become."New York"shows that not all of the techno
is gone, but it does have heart felt lyrics."Grace"is a beautiful finale to the
return of the ROCK band U2.
I could not talk about U2 without mentioning the always drumming of Larry Mullen Jr.Always a class act and one of the unique voices in rock drums.

All That You Can't Leave Behind - U2

I'm a big U2 fan and I loved the opening bid of a penny, which I ended up buying it for. I ended up disliking a few of the songs, but isn't that normal with a CD.

U2 is my favorite band and I played my original copy of this CD so much that it eventually started skipping. I choose to buy a replacement copy on Ebay to save $, rather than pay full price at a traditional retailer. This CD is a must have for any U2 fan and is one of my fav. albums next to Joshua Tree.

This awesome band comes out with another great album. One of the best albums since Joshua Tree. Inspirational ballads to heart-pounding, exciting tunes that need to be played loud. Kuddos to this timeless band for another masterpiece!

U2: All Grown Up and All That You Can't Leave Behind
Review created: 10/06/05
by: lambchops-- a member of Epinions and Lead in Music

Pros:
Some outstanding and classic songs...

Cons:
Toward the end, I lose interest...

Nearly thirty years after forming in Dublin, Ireland U2 is still making excellent music. They began as politically charged new wave punk and have morphed into one of the most lauded pop/rock bands of the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. In thirty more years, the band will still have fans and will certainly be regarded in a musically revolutionary light. The four members of the band have stuck together through thick and thin. Bono (vocals, guitar), The Edge (guitar, keys), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen (percussion) have become synonymous with consistently excellent music. Some people...

Jesus, in the song You wrote, the words are sticking in my throat...

Pros:
Partial return to U2's "classic" sound; more optimistic than 90's U2 seemed to be.

Cons:
A few songs that lack musical spark; Bono sounds old at times.

Okay, no more procrastinating. I've been telling myself I'd get around to this one for years now. I guess I couldn't help it; reviewing U2 is a bit intimidating. After all, the band has been around for longer than I've been alive, and they're one of the greatest rock bands in all of history (surely you know that this is more than just a subjective claim on my part). Even though I've been an avid fan of rock music inspired by a Christian worldview (note: this does not always mean the same thing as "Christian rock") for nearly 10 years, it took me until the turn of the century to finally delve..

"are you still growing wild with everything tame around you?"

Pros:
stuff

Cons:
and nonsense

Right down to the title, U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind is one of the most blindingly overt bids for the respect of a lost 'audience' as i've seen in my (admittedly short) tenure as a music writer. Long-time fans packed it in after Zooropa and Pop, convinced that U2 couldn't claw themselves out of the techno abyss with a ripcord and a step-stool. And buzz that their 2000 album would atone for their pop sins fell on deaf, electronica-dulled ears. The warm keyboard tones that open the album tease at a disappointing reneg on the parts of U2 - but when they build and explode into a chorus...

My Favorite Album of the Year
Review created: 12/27/00
by: JediKermit -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
11 Tracks of Pure Love

Cons:
New stuff from a literate, poetic band that knows how to rock--there are no cons

I'm a big U2 fan, but I don't like all of their stuff. I think they've had definite highs and lows in their career; I think this is one of their HIGHS! I bought the album the day it came out, and I've listened to it quite a bit over the last two months. It hasn't worn out its welcome yet. Rather than having one or two strong "radio" songs, and then a lot of filler, every track on this CD rocks my world. My favorite U2 albums are Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby (and now All That You Can't Leave Behind), so if you liked those albums, but not some of U2's other efforts, I'd really recommend this...

What do you see when you look at the world?
Review created: 02/24/04

Pros:
One of U2's best records... period.

Cons:
Of course musically it's not Joshua or Achtung.. it's up there though.

This album has been with me a while now. Perhaps I should review it already. Going not gone. The closing chords of Gone still resonate in the air under Boston FleetCenter s roof when the Edge steps on his guitar, which brings about a subdued howl of a mortally wounded animal. Outside it s the year 2001 and U2 have once again reestablished themselves as one of the best bands in the world. Three years ago, as they played the last show of the PopMart tour, it seemed the Irish lads could as well call it a day. Now, as the Edge s guitar dies away, it s agony drowning in the crowd s rapturous...
