This is a wonderfully well done childrens classic, HOWEVER, due to the intentional adult content that was added by it's author Lewis Carol I would sugest not showing it to very young children. The disney version of this movie witch we're talking about cuts out much of the contriversial content and makes what would otherwise be an LSD tripout into a plausible, fun loving childrens musical... This movie is great fun to watch.

Pros:
Mercifully short

Cons:
No plot, repetitive scenes

While I may have seen it as a child, I have no recollection of Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland. So one night we had a "girls night in" and I watched it for the first time with my daughters, 5 1/2 and almost 4. Curiouser and Curiouser - Why Reinvent a Classic? My oldest daughter and I are currently working our way through Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the book on which this movie is partial based as well as Alice Through the Looking Glass. I hoped seeing some of the characters and plot lines brought to life through animation might increase her enjoyment of the book....

  Wondering what Walt was Thinking
Review created: 08/23/00

Pros:
highly imaginative

Cons:
rather psychadelic and disturbing

All right, so maybe it's not quite that bad. But then again, maybe it is. I am an incurable Disney fan, and there are very few of the animated classics that I would pass up a chance to watch. This is one of them. Like "Peter Pan," this fanciful tale about growing up simply struck me as more disturbing than anything else. Unlike "Peter Pan," I have yet to find a version that I truly enjoy. I think the original story holds much of the blame here. There is no disputing that "Alice in Wonderland" is a classic piece of children's literature. But it is also more than a little disturbing, and the...

  Wonder of Wonders

Pros:
Animation. Color. Sound. Voice talent.

Cons:
More obvious than satirical in style of humor.

I and my guest judges are slowly winnowing down the field of possible contestants for my new reality TV show, American Idyl. I had no idea there were quite so many talented kiddies out there. We have had a number of stage mothers, however, who are stooping to the most outrageous tactics to try and curry favoritism for their offspring. I cannot be bought with flowers or boxes of chocolate but the gift certificate to VanCleef and Arpels was rather tempting. Then there are the personal deceivers like the young lady of at least twelve whose mother outfitted her with patent leather Mary Janes and..

Entering into a world of 'Curiouser'
Review created: 09/30/06
by: williamsrabbit -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Teaches children without them, or even some parents, knowing it.

Cons:
Can frighten some children, still show them it. They'll learn.

There are many disputes over the movie 'Alice in Wonderland': was the writer on something, what is it teaching our children, is it good or bad? Is this wholesome or effective entertainment, what can be taken from this movie? Being that my name is Alice, I ve always loved this movie, call it bias, I care not. Aside from the connection and automatic title this has tacked to me; there are things that I learned from this movie, and that I hope others will too. (Also, I love that it frightens my sister, still to this day she can t watch it, hee hee.) For anyone who is not yet familiar with this...

Curiouser and Curiouser (10th in a series)
Review created: 09/22/00
by: sweaver -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Inventive and fast-moving; good poetry.

Cons:
Animation below standard.

It s your typical girl-falls-down-hole-into-other-world story. This adaptation combines elements of Lewis Carroll s books The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Kathryn Beaumont, a precocious young English child at the time, voices Alice while Sterling Holloway (better known as Winnie-the-Pooh) voices the Cheshire Cat. We open in a peaceful garden. A young woman is reading, but the young girl isn t interested in her history lesson. Alice imagines a world of contradiction, where animals would act like people. The Dinah the cat and Alice spy a rabbit who fusses he..
