I will order again and again. Very prompt and courteous. Seller packaged the product carefully. All of the DVD's I ordered are going overseas to my fellow military members. I will gladly recommend you to all of them.

Fabulous performance by Will Smith! He is so believable as Ali. I bought the DVD after viewing the VHS. If you like Will Smith or Muhammed Ali, you will like this movie. Very well-done and enthralling. I am an Ali fan and enjoyed this movie very much.

The movie was good itself, it was one of the best life based character movies I've ever seen. I bought it because I'd been wanting to see it.

Muhammad Ali...Not as memorable as I hoped it would be
Review created: 01/04/02

Pros:
Jon Voight...Will Smith, Great Fight Scenes

Cons:
Sometimes a little boring, skipped around

One of the funny things about living in a very small town, is that the only theater can be packed if the movie you want to see is a long anticipated one. Thinking that Ali was going to be one of those, we arrived at the theater about 30 minutes early....we sure didn't need to. My hubby and I were alone in the theater until about 5 minutes before show time...and then we were joined by six other people. That was it, 8 people watching what promised to be a blockbuster movie. Sadly, it wasn't! The Facts Will Smith as Ali was believable, but I kept seeing the Fresh Prince of Bel Air in my head. I..

ALI is Down In Round One? Thank You Lord !

Pros:
pro? You are a sadio-mascist and want to punish yourself.

Cons:
Choppy, poor direction,puzzling dialogue

O.K. I will admit it. I hate boxing. I think as a sport it is plebian and you might as well be watching the Romans fighting the lions in the coliseum in Rome. Think about it, two men go in a ring and fight each other till one of them either drops dead or is unconscious? I did enjoy the movie Rocky though and when the chance to watch a DVD of Ali came my way I thought with all its nominations I would give it a whirl. I wish this thing had been knocked out in the first round. This movie is such a lemon. The Directors Folly Michael Mann is the director and filmmaker of the movie and produced a...

A movie of strings and images, Ali sparkles
Review created: 12/29/01
by: deaser26 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Great acting, amazing sound track, strong messages

Cons:
Not enough fight scenes, some strange directing

What were your expectations? The key to the movie Ali is what you knew, or what you thought you knew going in. Another key is what you thought of Ali. Growing up Muhammad Ali was one of my heroes. He was brash, he was invincible, he did not conform, and he refused to fight in that horrible, godless, corporate driven war, he didn t believe in a northern European-blue eyed-blond haired Jesus. What could be more delightful to the child of hippies and minstrels? The thing that surprised me about the film was that it didn t have all that much new information than what might have been previously...

Ali Boring and the Forty Z's.
Review created: 12/27/01
by: scott29 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Smith's novel Ali impression, Jamie Foxx shows he can act.

Cons:
This is one big purple yawn of a movie.

After directing the phenomenal movie The Insider, filmmaker Michael Mann found himself the new "A-list" director. (He had previously directed other critical faves including The Last of the Mohicans and Heat.) With his newfound credibility (and bankability), he could have chosen any number of options for his next project. Unfortunately, Mann has seemingly decided to become a cross between Oliver Stone and Tony Scott, as his Ali is nothing more than a mish-mash of grating visuals, irritating musical sequences and a performance from Will Smith that begins as a novelty and ends as a parody. This..

  Michael Mann's -Ali-2001
Review created: 08/10/02
by: artbyjude -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Voight, the sound track, Mario Von Peebles-some aspects of Smith's performance

Cons:
Not enough fighting for fight fans, and the other aspects of Smith's performance

This is a movie that chronicles the life and career of Muhammad Ali from his transition from Cassius Clay through much of his fighting career. It is beautifully filmed, and well performed. I have been struggling to define why I failed to get enthusiastic about it. The bottom line for me is that Will Smith, no matter how hard he tried (and he gave it a magnificent effort) is simply not Muhammad Ali. In pinpointing why I feel that way it boils down to this: he just missed the beat. I remember Muhammad Ali well. He achieved an unprecedented popularity, notoriety and attention during his career...
