Def Leppard Adrenalize
Review created: 05/19/08

Another excellent Def Leppard cd! It picks up where Hysteria left off. Just another fine collection of Def Leppard material. Music and lyrics are excellent! If I had to choose a favorite cd, it would be Hysteria but this cd would run a close second! It certainly is a must have in any Def Leppard collection. These guys experienced a lot of tragedy in their careers but still managed to keep on rolling out the good stuff!

My Personal Favorite: from a Def Leppard Fan
Review created: 01/28/06
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I know most everybody that is asked: What is the Best Def Leppard album, would say, Hysteria. But not me. I love this album, as it states in the Title it's my favorite. Why? It has all the make-you-happy stuff that any Def Leppard album has, but there is someting more to it. That is that with all the stuff they went through in the years before this album was released (mostly Steve) they managed to release this fantastic album full of radio friendly songs that just get stuck in your head. And maybe it is not Hysteria, but you have to consider how a band can go through the death of a member and somehow manage to release another album at all. And besides do you really want every album you listen to to sound exactly the same as it did before? Absolutely not! And with all of that in mind I give this a 5/5 and when someone asks me what the best album Def Leppard made is, I say: Adrenalize hands down! -DefLeppardFan2003

 Hysteria Part Deux
Review created: 11/01/01
by: Darkmistress -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Very much like Hysteria. Almost identical

Cons:
Three years too late

Adrenalize is just basically a continuation of Hysteria. If you liked Hysteria, you will probably like Adrenalize. It vanished like a stone in the greater pool of popular hard rock because hard rock had changed by the time it came out. Bands like Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden were playing the new hard rock and it was much rougher and less produced than what had been popular only 4 years earlier. That was the other problem. Four years. In typical Def Leppard luck, something horrible happened between the release of Hysteria and Adrenalize. This time their lead guitarist, Steve Clark, died.

Yes, it is Hysteria II! And I don't care!

Pros:
Big, arena rock sound-pure ear candy! Good mix of rock songs and ballads

Cons:
Some would say it's Hysteria II-who cares?

Of all of the Def Leppard studio albums, this one has been by far the most maligned, even more so than "Slang." Even though "Slang" was not commercially succesful and this album was, most applauded Leppard for attempting to update their sound. On the other hand, most people see this album as a waste, as a "Hysteria II." Well, you know what, they are right, it is Hysteria II, and I really couldn't care less. I didn't see anyone complaining when Def Leppard returned to their old sound with "Euphoria." The fact is, with a lot of bands, their sound does need updating every so often (REM, The...

Adrenalize Got Caught Up in the Hysteria
Review created: 05/09/01

Pros:
Another KICK @$$ Lep album!! Flawless production, even topping Hysteria in sound quality. Great songs!

Cons:
Musically, Adrenalize is perhaps better experienced LIVE than through your stereo.

In 1992, one of music's most talented and truly original rock bands of modern times re-emerged from their four-year studio hiatus with their most highly-anticipated album to date, Adrenalize. Def Leppard had earned phenomenal world-wide success with their previous album, Hysteria, the multi-platinum album that topped everything else in the '80s. Now it was the '90s, and to follow-up Hysteria, Def Leppard once again joined musical forces with legendary producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange (this time as executive producer) to do only what the team does best---make an album of great music. However.

Not like the old Def Leppard, but still rocking
Review created: 01/13/00

Pros:
Let's Get Rocked

Cons:
Slow songs

When I was younger, having two older brothers, I was only allowed to listen to certain bands having certain standards. My brother Dave was a huge influence. He listened to all the heavy metal 80's bands and made sure that I did just the same. One which I actually loved on my very own was a band called Def Leppard. In fact, one of my first CDs was their Hysteria CD, which I seemingly played out. I bought Adrenalize as soon as it came out because of these circumstances. I was only a little bit let down. It seemed to be a little less than I expected from a band I had loved so much, but hey it...

 Do you wanna get...?
Review created: 05/05/03

Pros:
Great pop-rock, entertaining hooks.

Cons:
Not as good as "Hysteria", loss of Steve Clarke, a little out of date.

It's never really been straight-forward for Def Leppard. You would think that seeing your drummer lose his arm was the worst tragedy that could hit the band - but it got worse. Guitarist Steve Clarke was found dead from a drug overdose in February 1991. The talented axeman had struggled for years to overcome his self-destructive behaviour and it finally got the better of him. The long-awaited follow-up to the 15m selling "Hysteria" arrived in 1992, and despite the morbid background, it was an upbeat and fun record full of good hooks and songwriting that, while not on a par with the previous...
