This was a wonderful movie. Brad Pit and Rick Schroder played their parts well as rival brothers coming together and learning how to love and support each other against the odds.
this was a solid movie for it's time.who knew brad pitt would become such a big star.heck rick schroder was the main star at the time.it is about a broken family and a pair of brothers brought together through tragedy and a track team.one a clean cut kid and the other a juvenile delinquent.still they are brothers and devolop a good relationship.it is a solid drama and nice simple story.the acting was just fine.i gave it 3 and a half stars out of 5.is it worth buying.probably not.rent it first.if you like it then buy it.i did.
I bought this DVD trying to acquire all Brad Pitt movies. I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Two brothers raised in the same house but following totally different paths find that their lives begin to intertwine and then merge. This film shows that good and bad exist in all of us and with the right motivation all of us can cross the line and still come out of it with the skills and drive to be productive and successful. While this wasn't a super mega movie it was well worth watching over and over. Brad Pitt and Rick Schroeder were both able to bring emotions to the viewer that evey family deals with and show us that sometimes things just turn out right.
I love this movie. I bought it because I am a huge Brad pitt fan. He has inspired me to pursue acting. And his performance is fantastic for an uncredited movie.

Pros: It's not a particularly bad film.
Cons: It's not particularly interesting, either.
It was time for another VHS from the collection to go for one last viewing before being tossed. I'd forgotten that Across the Tracks stars Brad Pitt; if I'd remembered that, I might have went for something else first, after all, we certainly had enough Brad Pitt recently. In this film, he's in his early 20s, playing a 17-year-old and, although already typical Brad Pitt in every way, he pulls off the age difference. Pitt plays Joe, a straight kid and talented track runner who causes no trouble for his mother, unlike his brother Billy (Ricky Schroeder). Billy has been arrested for stealing a...

Pros: Brad and Rick; enjoyable story
Cons: Snodgrass; cliched story; not too deep
Brad Pitt pulled off three things very well in 1990 s Across The Tracks. He looked remarkably like a California seventeen-year-old high school student; he was an extremely convincing track star jock with the physique and mental hang-ups; and he revealed some acting chops that kept me caring about his clean-cut character who is obsessed with getting a scholarship to Stanford by running his heart out and becoming the fastest in the county. I don t know why he wanted to go to Stanford so badly. Maybe he doesn t either. It s prob'ly something director/writer Sandy Tung thought his character...

800 Meters to Stanford

Pros: Early roles for Pitt and Schroeder, a good pickup for $5
Cons: Prosaic plot, sporadic overacting
The back of the box offers this excellent synopsis of the movie: Brad Pitt is a high school track star [named Joe], trying to get a college scholarship to Stanford. Rick Schroeder plays his rebellious younger brother [that would be Billy], using track to keep from heading down the wrong path. The conference championship 800 [half-mile] pits brother against brother, in this movies stirring climax. Great, so what the box tells me is that this movie combines a classic good soon/bad son story, intertwined with an attempt by Brad Pitt to score a track scholarship at Stanford. This has all the...
