Absolutely amazing graphics (don't listen to that guy who wrote the negative review). I was actually surprised that ps2 could actually support such excellent graphics! The storyline really brings you into the game and grabs your emotions. Very high-tech feel. Controlls are easy to learn but hard to master. But once you get the hang of it, though, it is amazing. (Just a hint: want to enhance gameplay? Buy the logitech flight-force joystick for ps2 and hook it in to the USB port. The joystick is amazing and adds even more reality to this awsome game. Plus you can usually get it for a cheap price on ebay,$20.) I found this game a game of complete skill and a challenge. I highly recommend it with or without a joystick. BTW, this isn't a game you can beat in one day, it takes time, effort, and skill. Amazing graphics, super story-line, highly realistic and entertaining gameplay: what more could you want? BUY IT!!!!
By far is the best of the Ace combat series with 30 missions, 50 + aircrafts, wingman commands, dogfighting strategies and much more. This game will top all flying combat simiulation games
Ace Combat 5 continues Namco's series of Flight sims. The story is quite engaging, the gameplay is challenging (especially when unlocks "Ace" mode), the Graphics are beautiful and the selection of aircraft is more than you could ask for. The game evolves into a new challenge with Hori's FlightStick2 and is coughing up the dough (if your a fan). The best part is that it is Compatible with the other two entries on the PS2 (AC-04 and AC-Zero).
Overall 4.5 out of 5. Fans of the Series or flight sims in General will be most pleased.
great game! fun to play. i had the game before but it became so scratch up that it would not play. so i bought another copy. that should tell you how much fun the game is!!!
the game has a great story line & all of the aircrafts are very well detailed...overall the game is a nicely constructed action/suspense/drama game...also something to consider is that it that it gives more detail about the previous game and the one after, not that the other two need furder explanation.
My Scores>> overall 8.8 graphics-9.5 story-10 2player mode-7 one player mode-9.5 weapons-8 difficulty-7.5 controls-9 aircrafts-10
Ive been playing this series since the beginning and it just gets better with every new entry . I love unlocking and using each new plane .great fun game
I have always been an ace combat fan. This game is better than 4 and I did not think that was possible. It is rare that a game is both fun to play and cool to watch, and this game accomplishes that.
I have loved this series since it was introduced but the story line is getting old and tired and there are certain scenes you cannot skip. As far as gameplay I give it an A. The story get a C.
I got to say this game is one of the best flight games I have ever played in my life. The graphics are so out there and the way they made the handling on the jets are unbelievable! The thing I loved the most on it though was the story line, it can get your heart pounding and you get so into the game its like your actual part of the story. There are about 30 missions and tons upon tons of different aircraft to choose from (Granite you beat the game you can use any plane on just about any board). The dog fight mode is outstanding as well. If your having problems falling into the lake like I read on one reviewers review, got to tell ya I am sorry but its not the game its the operator!
good fly and shoot game, had good action and graphics, animations, story drug on a bit at times--overall a very good game, however---some slight language, but not too bad for kids
It’s an Awesome Game but -possibly- not as good as AC4.
Nevertheless, it's a wonderful addition to the AC family!
-The Good -The Well-Suited (and funny at the right times) Dialogue
-The Diverse Selection of Aircraft
-The Beautiful Music
-The Dramatic Cutscenes (laced in and out of the gameplay)
-The Beautiful Graphics
-The Recognizable Voices and Personalities of Your Fellow Pilots
-The Awesome Gameplay
-The Bad -The Unspecific Mission Objectives
-Too much cussing.
-The Summary -This is another wonderful addition to the Ace Combat family! I rented this game recently and thought, “Wow, with Ace Combat 4 being such a hit, I doubt this one will be as good.” Boy, was I wrong! Anyway, this game is similar to Ace Combat 4 (also, see my Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies review), you complete various missions, each taking you one step closer to defeating the Yukes (the enemy). There are many different mission, ranging from destroying Para-tanks, to shooting down enemy aircraft. There are many planes to choose from, and you must also have planes for you squad too (so keep at least four around). That concludes this review.
I am a big fan of the Ace Combat game series dating back to earlier console versions-like Sega Genesis. This current version was not a great departure from earlier versions-but again, this series is already great. This game provides a great flight-sim feel, but with very easy to use features. The detailed storylines and cutaway scenes help add to the depth and entertainment of the game. You will not be let down in buying this game-or really any game in this series.
You actually get more involved in this game compared to the past ace combat. You get to communicate a bit and get more invovled in the missions instead of just shooting down planes and boats. The only drawback I had was that you don't get enough control over the missions and the graphics are one step away from making this one of the best games ever.
I love the Ace Combat series. I had AC 4 and then found AC5 for a good deal on EBay. The graphics are great, the flight is realistic and the different difficulty levels allow for anyone to have a fun and challenging playing experience.
This is a great improvement from the pervious Ace Combat 4, which I thought was one of the best flight simulation games ever to come out. At first the changes in the various functions are a bit confusing like giving your wingman commands but with time you master the changes and actually see how much it has improved. It is a little bit more difficult that the Ace Combat 4. Overally, I dont miss Ace Combat 4 at all. This is a great game.
They have really moved the ACE Combat series up a notch. The feel of the game and the graphics are tremendous. The difficulty of the game and the decision making needed to beat the game is moved up considerable from AC4. I miss the one on one ability that 4 has and is the only down side to the game but it is a down side. Overall if you play the game alone this is a great game. If you like to play along with your kids,…stick to AC4.
Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War is a game that really does surpass it's earlier versions. Ace Combat 5 has a story that is so in depth that it completely immerses the player into the game. With more levels than Ace Combat 4 and increased cooperation from your wingmen, this game truely builds itself into a game that can be played over and over. It has tons of aircraft that you are able to open up as the game goes. It also has an interested arcade mode that is a continuation of Ace Combat 4. The only unfortunate thing about this game is that it has no multi-player.
This is not a bad game in the least it also is not the greatest game to grace the PS2 console. This game has Good graphics, not a bad story line but I could live with out it. The gameplay is great for this game I do give it that. It has some great fighter plane action in it this game is packed with some intense Air to Air battles. This game is worth the the money spent to get it if you really enjoy Flight sims or just plane action. It has to me a good replay value you to it. I don't think this game is a waste of money by any standards.
it's a bird...it's a plane...no. it's you. shooting the bird out of your plane, to your enemies, right before you launch your missile right up their ars-enal...
great combat game. just wish it had innocent people on the ground to shoot at...i guess i'm stuck with the GTA mentality.
