In A League of Their Own, Penny Marshall directed this superb film. Rosie O'Donnell, Madonna and our Commander in Chief are stared in this women's baseball team started when the gentlemen had to go off to war. A great drama, comedy.

Base on a true story this movie have the charm of the 40'S with a perfect casting. Tom Hanks is wonderful as disabused trainer. Geena Davis have a role of wife that play in most part for her sister Lori Petty and Madonna and the others girls make the ambiance. A wonderful movie with a little touch of real human emotion that make it better.

Older Movie - But Still Brand NewI expecially wanted to give A League Of Their Own DVD to our granddaughter along with her first baseball and fielder's glove for her birthday. I wanted to give her a new product in its original wrapping, so she would know it was not someone's cast-off. I was very pleased to receive exactly what I had ordered in a timely manner and at a fair shipping price.

great cast. great story. great directing. did i mention the amazing cast??? Geena Davis, Tom Hanks, Madonna, Lori Petty, Rosie O'Donnell... and Penny Marshall directing?! I saw this movie for the first time in the theatre when i was only 12 and it is still one of my favorites. But girls playing baseball?? Love it! "There's no crying in baseball"... well not until that tear-jerking ending which melts you.

I bought A League Of Their Own DVD for my daughter for her birthday. She loves it! I received it just as it was described when I was shopping for it. My daughter actually requested it because the one we had was beginning to mess up. She lets her friends borrow it as well. If you have not seen this movie yet, get a copy of it, you'll be glad you did.

This is a GREAT DVD Set! It comes with, of course, a wonderful movie but more importantly, added deleted scenes, commentary from the cast and great interviews! All of this is incased in a fantastic case. I love this movie and with all the added features, I'm in heaven. I love the story and the cast make it Oscar Worthy!!

This movie is a long flashback to the days before the feminist revolution when the men went off to war and the women stayed home. With the men away, major league baseball was ready to close, but women were hired to play in the All American Girls Baseball League (note: not women, girls). Penny Marshall directed this story which is based on the real story of the AAGBL. This fictional account tells about the Rockford Peaches, especially two sisters who play for them. Kit and Dotty Henson (Lori Petty and Geena Davis) are respectively a pitcher and a catcher. Dotty is married and her hubby is away.

I've enjoyed this film since it came out in 1992. I saw in at the theater, enjoyed the hell out of it, and then bought the VHS tape shortly after it was released. This film is based (well, loosely based, but I'll get to that later) on the All-American Girls Baseball League that was started in 1943 when pro baseball was suffering from a shortage of men. The men, of course, were busy trying to win World War II, but Americans still craved baseball. The solution? Start a league featuring women.
