It's gotta be good with Julia Stiles!!!
Review created: 07/01/08

Haven't seen this movie yet, but I am a huge fan of Julia Stiles. I've nveer seen a movie with her in it that I didn't love and absolutely have to buy to add to my collection. Based off of the movie trailers and reviews, this is a top notch film that everyone should see at least once!!!

A talented and appealing cast and a very funny script make "A Guy Thing" a very enjoyable movie. Sure, like any movie there may be one or two slow spots, but overall it's a must-see.

Jason Lee's, A Guy Thing Is A Bad Thing
Review created: 01/17/03

Pros:
Music. A couple of cheap laughs.

Cons:
Story, casting, ending.

When I saw the trailers for this movie, I thought it was going to be a light-hearted comedy with a nice little romance to carry it through. Oh no. This turned out to be my worse nightmare. Not really, but I was greatly disappointed. The Story Paul (Jason Lee) is on the verge of getting married to the perfect girl, Karen (Selma Blair) - six days away and counting! The morning after his bachelor party, he wakes up in his bed to find one of the "dancers", Becky (Julia Stiles) naked as a jaybird, all wrapped up comfy in his sheets. Thinking that he has cheated on his fianc e, Paul spends a lot of.

If this is A Guy Thing, then I'm having a sex change

Pros:
Becky's smile. Lighthearted.

Cons:
It's mostly contrived fluff.

There's an old expression that goes something like "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with stupidity." I guess they forgot to mention what happens with the people who don't actually find stupidity baffling, or riddling, perplexing, subjugating, or any of those other "ing" words. So I think I'm on to their next strategy, which is "If you can't baffle them with stupidity, pummel them with cliches." So I actually learned something from "A Guy Thing", what do you know. I never knew I had it in me. But I guess it's a good thing I did, 'cause they sure don't have it in them!...

A Guy Thing is a Cheesy and Predictable Comedy
Review created: 06/01/07
by: Javelina -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Some funny moments, big name actors

Cons:
Weak plot, weak comedy, predictable, immature, plot holes, over-the-top

While on maternity leave, I spent a lot of time in front of the TV when my hands were full (literally) and there was nothing else I could do. I happened across this movie on cable one afternoon. I had actually not heard of A Guy Thing before, or at least I don t remember of ever hearing of it, and was actually surprised this was in theaters (as opposed to a made for TV movie). I was surprised to see Jason Lee (who I know best from My Name is Earl ), Julia Stiles, and Selma Blair starring in this film. This movie was released in 2003. Right off the bat, I could tell this would be a silly,...

  That's Not a Bad Thing. That's. . . A Guy Thing
Review created: 01/21/03

Pros:
Comedy; acting

Cons:
Ending was predictable yet odd

Being a big fan of both Jason Lee and Julia Stiles, I knew A Guy Thing would be a perfect movie to see with my girlfriend. I realized that they would both be playing roles quite different from what I've seen them do before. This was not an intelligently sarcastic Kevin Smith film, nor was it a modernized Shakespeare. It was, however, an enjoyable comedy starring some very good actors. In a role very different from his usual stuff, Lee plays Paul, a lovable loser about to get married. His fianc Karen is played by Selma Blair. Karen is from a straitlaced, wealthy family, an exact opposite from..

Pre-"Earl" Jason Lee Has A Guy Thing
Review created: 06/02/08
by: rkingfish-- a member of Epinions and Top Reviewer in Movies

Pros:
Lee's talent and determination keep this farce afloat. He drives a Kia Rio.

Cons:
Second act too long and uninspired. Familiar romantic comedy pitfalls.

The contemporary romantic comedy occupies a genre rife with abuse. Countless rudderless scripts follow predictable patterns of tasteless humor mined from everyday life. And when you think about it - who wants to spend ten bucks to embrace a world you re paying good money and two hours of your time trying to escape? An exceptional cast can often overcome such writer s cramp with the help of 1.) a good editor and 2.) direction with a pace swift enough to provide little time for critical retrospection. A Guy Thing benefits from all-of-the-above; though as a third-act wedding march, the rock-and..
