Yes, it did That s the short answer. But it became the best picture based almost entirely on the strength of Russell Crowe s performance, who did NOT win an Oscar.. I can vividly remember watching the Oscars two weeks ago. It was a Monday, the first day of my Easter break. My parents thought it would be best if they got me up early so that I can start revising for my exams in June. Without much of a choice, I got out of bed and once my parents left, I decided to turn on the TV. Low and behold, the Oscars were on my television. Therefore, I sat through the whole ceremony eagerly waiting to hear what would win Best Picture (I was confident that Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring would definitely get the award).
