My school did a book study on this book and I purchase a copy of my own because I wanted to keep it in my classroom. I have already used some of the ideas and it really helps when teaching writing.

This was a required book for a class I just took. It gives the main concepts about writing and provides the teacher with TONS of amazing ideas for teaching writing. It is a very easy read and full of great information. I recommend it to any teacher in need of writing resources. (There is also an early childhood version available.)

This book is very useful for elementary teachers to help guide their students in producing meaningful and excellent writing. It gives great examples and is easy to understand. The chapters are clear and the exercises in the text are wonderful for teachers. I would recommend this book to any elementary school teacher and also for college professors teaching cirriculum writing. It is worth having on your bookshelf just as a reference guide. I highly recommend!

This is a wonderful book it give you the basic concept of trait writing, example lessons, and student's written work to practice assessing using their guide. It gives you just the right amount of detail - not too little that you are still trying to figure it out and not too much that you are skimming to get to the good stuff. It is practical and easy to imagine putting these actions and suggestions into action. I highly suggest it.
If you are looking for a book of only lessons for 6+1 trait writing this might not be for you. Do not get me wrong it has quite a few wonderful ideas and lessons, but it has a lot of other information too. I believe there is a book that is only lesson - but this one gives a holistic approach which in my view is much better.
