  this book is awesome

I loved this book just like all the other Patterson books. From the very first pages the book sucks you in so that you can't put it down. The famililar characters from the other books (The Women's Murder Club) makes you feel connected and feel that these characters really exist and you're allowed to follow the development of their lives. Like I said, really great thriller, emotional at times, good esp. for women.

  giving Patterson a 2nd chance
Review created: 10/02/06

I bought this book after reading 1st To Kill by Patterson. I've been a fan for a few years of this author and this 2nd in this series was just as great as the others. Patterson continues to soar as a writer for mystery thrillers. With the short paragraphs it's easy to get far and keep the pages turning at each read.

2nd Chance Warning - Don't Pay Full Price!

Pros:
fast-paced read, clever plot

Cons:
James Patterson doesn't know women

James Patterson knows how to write an entertaining whodunit that keeps you guessing until the end. James Patterson doesn't know jack about how women actually think, feel and behave. Combine his whodunit ability with a near laughable perspective on the inside of women's heads and you have 2nd Chance. 2nd Chance is Patterson's second chance to get his female characters right. His first chance was in the first book of the "Women's Murder Club" series, 1st to Die. Both books kept my feelings mixed the entire time I was making my way through the pages... I couldn't stop turning the pages... I...

The Women s Murder Club returns in...2nd Chance

Pros:
interesting story line

Cons:
short chapters

I never profess to be anything but a huge fan of author James Patterson s work. Immediately picking this book up in the bookstore at the beginning of this year was nothing that surprised me. And as the sequel to 1st To Die, how could I not read it? Give me one good reason why! Choir practice just having ended, Rev. Aaron Winslow is walking his young group out of the church when a faceless figure begins to open fire on the church. Unfortunately, but amazingly, there is only one casualty...11-year old Tasha Catchings. Was she the lone hunted victim? Or just in the wrong place at the wrong time?.

  2nd Chance, a 1st Rate Thriller

Pros:
Fast-paced, lots of dialogue, suspenseful, great mystery

Cons:
"Women's Club" may turn readers away, some plot holes

In February 2003, I saw part of a made-for-TV movie called 1st to Die, based on the book by James Patterson. I thought the plot was good enough to want to follow up with the book, especially since I hadn t seen the ending. I was unable to get this book from the library, but instead I found the book that is 2nd in the series, 2nd Chance. At 400 pages, my paperback copy was fairly average in size. James Patterson has written quite a few books, but it was obvious that this was the second in a series of mysteries. The copyright is 2002, so this is a newer one of Patterson s books. The cover notes.

Pros:
Riveting action, great twists, shows the nature of hatred, great ending twist

Cons:
language is salty

In the series dubbed the women s murder club, best selling author James Patterson returns with installment two in 2nd Chance. San Francisco is rocked with a gunman shoots into the La Salle Street Church in a renewal area of town killing the youngest child in the choir as they are departing the building. The bullet ridden church becomes the symbol for violence in this story as Lindsay, who has now been promoted to Lieutenant, Claire, the medical examiner, Jill, the assistant district attorney, and Cindy, the determined metro beat reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, begin to investigate...
