2009 Blue Book Handbook of United States Coins by R.S. Yeoman, edited K. Bressett If you are collecting or trading US coins you should have this book. The Blue Book is what dealers use to make buying offers and will let the collector know what many of his sources are paying for the coins. And will give a little insight on how to handle dealing with them. The Blue Book Hand is a dealer's annual reference that has been in use since 1942. The Blue Book is 256 pages and is a Whitman publication. It covers Colonial coins, early American coins, Federal coins, and commemorative. Also included are Proof and Mint sets, state quarters, Presidential dollars, private and territorial golds and even tokens. It has an average dealer buying prices for US coins from 1916 to 2008. Along with the historical and mintage information there is a new section on Selling Coins. Blue Book Handbook has much of the same information as it's younger brother, the Red Book has; actual size photos, mint notes, grading guides, common variations and errors. It also has a price range that could be called wholesale. The Blue Book claims to be the number number one selling dealers guide and is considered a must by many professional numismatists.
Informative publication. Shows average prices dealers are willing to pay for US Minted coins. Personally, I like the 'Red Book" better. You will find prices dealers are willing to pay much, much lower than the values you will find in the 'Red Book'. My take: Avoid selling to dealers if possible. Better prices can be obtained selling to collectors, right here on eBay ! Like my Father use to say: "Something is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it !"
