1000 Great Quilt Blocks by Maggi McCormick Gordon (2003)

This is a small format book (about 6 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches)that fits in hand well, although it is rather thick and extensive. It has a section on basic technique with color pictures showing the details. Then it has another chapter on how to use the book. The rest of the book is divided into specific pattern blocks, with templates, like Four Patch, Five Patch, Seven Patch, Nine Patch, Mosaic, Strips, Pictorial, Plants and Animals, Stars, Curves, Letters and Numbers. These pages are black and white, with shading, and give dimensions for cutting block components and how many of each. It promises to keep it simple and I think that works. So far I have just thumbed through it, but hope to keep it handy and try a couple of blocks. And it is fun to just look up blocks!

I bought the book cause it looked good. I found that it wasn't what I thought but it would be helpful. It isn't a book with directions but is filled with the templates. And to someone who is looking for a block in paticular or variation of has a good chance to find it in here. And to someone who designs their own blocks or to some one who is designing a Quilt project this book would be very helpful. In this book you might see a block you like and then could make some changes to make that block you own. I haven't got to that level yet in my quilt learning but hope to put it to use soon. You never know maybe someday I'll have a block that will have my name on it all because of a book with a thousand possibilites to expand on.

this is truly a great quilters book. it is small but contains the 1,000 blocks. i do wish they had been in color, though.

MY FRIEND'S SISTER LOANED TO US. WE LOVED IT SO MUCH WE BOUGHT HER ONE. NOW WE HAVE BEEN USING IT SO MUCH AND SINCE SHE IS ALSO HOMEBOUND LIKE I AM, I ORDERED MY THIRD FOR ME. AS I WAS ON A ROLL FINISHED IT OFF WITH AN EASTER PRESENT FOR MY MOTHER IN LAW. WE DON'T USUALLY HAVE THE EXTRA $$$ BUT THIS QUILT EXPERIENCE WITH ALL THE KNOWLEDGE AT YOUR FINGERPRINTS IS YOUR BEST BUY EVER FROM TOTAL BEGINNER TO THE EXPERT.

LET YOUR MIND AND HANDS START PICKING OUT THE COLORS.....

this is a great book..........highly recommend to every quilter. easy to figure out how to strip piece from diagrams and it is out of print, so buy it when you see it! i have bought 6 for friends!

This book has been so helpful with my different projects. I highly recomment this book to everyone that quilts.
